I have posted Im against it for murder per se, as murder is never just that, and all cases are not the same

I would happily vote for it tomorrow for child rapists and killers.....two of these subhuman creatures were released in France  or was it Belgium , were they not recently? was it last year? A couple.....why should the state pay for a despicably depraved person/s to live and then let them out again!!
i think the USA has got it grossly wrong with their death penalty laws  but then again they get alot of  things wrong

I'm not keen on the death penalty mainly because people argue it is a deterrent, yet the USA where a number of states have the death penalty has a incredibly high murder rate. Purely and simply people committing crimes don't intend to be caught so I don't believe it to be a deterrent or that the prospect of what punishment people will receive for the crimes actually goes through their heads while they are committing crime.

In terms of punishment I think the whole life tarrif suffices. A whole lifetime of reflecting on what they have done with their liberty deprived is sufficient punishment.

Just too late to vote, I see.

A definite 'NO'.

There is not a judicial system or government in the world without serious flaws - and we are more than aware of that on this foum.

Let's calm down on the rhetoric and consider what the Death Penalty actually means.

It means your government has given itself the right to legally murder your citizens.

Considering "government" is made up of Politicians, and all of their follies, foibles and abilities to disseminate, who on earth thinks it's a great idea to give them the power to legally murder people?

I wouldn't trust my local pollie to look after my kids while I skipped out for Tapas, why would I give them the power to decide who lives or dies?

In an ideal world I would happily press the button on the likes of Ian Huntley. I totally agree with the death penalty in certain cases as long as there is no possibility of another Timothy Evans. Unfortunately there can be no guarantees therefore I would have to vote NO!
