Nice to know if you go abroad and contract one of the deadliest viruses known to man, our government will send a RAF Hercules equipped with the best quarantine equipment to bring you home. Numerous specialised doctors and nurses will be on hand and you will have VIP treatment all the way back to your own private quarantine ward!

Don't get me wrong, I am glad this nurse is getting great treatment and hope he survives. I just think our government is milking the publicity when numerous people under the NHS are refused vital medications because the drugs are too expensive!

And why not send a quarantine unit to Africa and treat the patient there? Perhaps if he survives others too could be treated. At the same time the local medical staff would be trained to use quarantine facilities and errrmm the government wouldn't be importing a deadly, highly infectious disease to the UK!

Dr Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol, both US Christian missionaries working in Liberia who were infected with Ebola, were flown back to the US and treated with the untried drug, Zmapp.  Both have made a full recovery and are Ebola free.  Although apparently the virus can remain in a man's sperm and a woman's breast milk for a period of time  &%+((£ Yet a Liberian doctor infected with Ebola was also treated with Zmapp and died  &%+((£

Computer modelling has the virus scheduled to reach the UK later this month!  Perhaps hold fire on making any arrangements for Christmas!

It is quite ludicrous imho to repatriate infected  patients from West Africa! I am sure the Spanish authorities thought they could safety treat their patient yet still one of the Spanish nurses contracted the disease! Don't import death!

The UK has just given a further £125 million to help fight the disease. Surely with that and whatever the rest of the world gives facilities can be set up in situ rather than deliberately exporting the deadly virus!

I don't believe the government has got to grips with this disease which could very well turn into a pandemic.  What will it take for them to close our airports to those parts of Africa which are already contaminated?

It takes 10 days apparently for this disease to reveal itself so how many are already carrying it on our streets?  It gives a whole new meaning to the term suicide bomber.  It might already be too late if developments in Spain are anything to go by.

What we are being told doesn't seem to make sense.  A comparison is being given with AIDS but as far as I am aware AIDS is only contractible via bodily fluids from an infected person entering the bloodstream of a non-infected person.  However the nurse in Spain who contracted the virus from a patient did so by touching her face.  Assuming she didn't have a cut on her face how did the virus enter her system?  &%+((£

We can't give nurses a paultry pay rise but we can send £125 million to West Africa along with 750 troops and ships full of equipment! France and USA seem to be doing a lot but where the hell are the other 200+ countries of this world.

We already give £13 billion annually in foreign aid which is the by far highest %age of GDP of any country. Where's Germany, Russia, China and Japan to name just a few?

NHS nurses should come before all that! I totally agree with doing our share of an international fund but why the fyck do we always have to be the third world's honey pot. We are STILL giving £1 million A DAY to India, a nuclear power that has both aircraft carriers and a space programme .... two things the UK can't afford!

Even if the risk to the UK from the virus is low, the risk to the economy could be huge if it started to spread.

Another nurse has died.  This time in US.  We are being told that the virus is only contractible via body fluids and yet the nurses in the US and Spain were wearing protective suits.  Apparently some procedural issue caused contamination eg body fluid of infected person landing on/in the eyes or mouth of nurses when they removed their protective suits.  Something doesn't sound right to me  &%+((£
