Interesting.

Everybody thinks that ... and IMO that is what we are meant to think.

Michael Shrimpton is an extremely intelligent and articulate man.   He was an associate of Tony Bennett.  IIRC correctly they had similar political views and am I right in recounting that Shrimpton was the Barrister representing Bennett in one of his Court cases ... was it the European road signs one?   Blonk knows Shrimpton is intelligent, don't you Blonk?

Now to the report itself.

I believe that in all probability [and it is only my considered opinion], that The Michael Shrimpton Report was commissioned by the Government.  It was supposed to be totally secret, but somehow it got out.  Certain aspects of that report were embarrassing to the Gov. if they were released to the general public, so the next best thing was that the report had silly bits added to it, so that it became undermined and a laughing stock.

I think that we were all succored into thinking Michael Shrimpton was a loony... and that was the intention.  To save the Gov embarrassment.

No way would Michael Shrimpton have added silly bits about Madeleine and the families thoughts and cuddle cat etc., like were in those later copies.  He was far too concise and intelligent.

Deliberate obfuscation with intent to undermine imo.  To save the Gov embarrassment

Only my opinion.

Tin hat on.
