In my opinion no-one had to wait for the abduction of a child in 2015 to give some serious consideration to the circumstances surrounding Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 or to speculate on the supposed motive behind it.

The Serbian police wasted not a second in their reaction to reports of the abduction which had occurred and instituted an immediate response which succeeded in preventing the little girl being taken out of the country.

In my opinion by the time the alarm was raised in Portugal it is highly likely that Madeleine if not already over the border in another country was well on her way to be taken there.

That the immediate concern among senior Portuguese investigators gives me the impression that there was too much focus not so much on the recovery of Madeleine but on apprehending a perpetrator ... or seeking to apportion doubt and blame where none existed.
For example ... Diario of the Noticias: "Headline: a badly told story" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/7106086.stm

If the three abductors had snatched the little Serbian girl from her mother outside her house and there were no witnesses to see it ... would that have made her less of a kidnapped child than she was because her abduction was witnessed and the police were able to get a helicopter into the air immediately as a result.

That Jane Tanner witnessed something of grave importance is indisputable.  The emergence of Dr Totman several years down the line seems to indicate that the Portuguese police were remiss in investigating the significance of her sighting appropriately.
So what other evidence did they miss?
Obviously I am not of the same opinion as you .
Redwood dismissed Jane Tanner’s alleged sighting  instead concentrating on the man the Smiths said they passed . Hardly of grave importance then ?
Totman coming forward  not all that long ago ? What held him up ?

Snip
In October 2007 the McCanns put out a sketch of the Tannerman but Mr Totman had already told the Guarda Nacional Republicana in May that it was probably him but they kept looking for the suspect.

It was only in 2011 after Scotland Yard took over the investigation that Det Chief Insp Andy Redwood, who led the probe from Britain, described a 'moment of revelation' when they became 'almost certain this sighting [Tannerman] is not the abductor.'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5698933/Madeleine-McCann-police-spent-four-years-trying-ID-man-GP-said-him.html

Also ... DCI Redwood's carefully chosen words when describing the 'revelation moment' should perhaps be given careful consideration.
"Almost certain" is hardly a ringing endorsement of anything in my book.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

So you prefer to believe Jane Tanner over what I consider Redwood’s “almost certain “ to mean ,= around 99.9 %. ?
Why is the man she alleged she saw still  on the McCanns  Madeleine page if Totman  says it  was him ?Going in the wrong direction too of course.

Not sure what OG is currently pursuing, but pretty certain it ain't Tannerman.

Can you think of the reason the Totmans would keep a pair of grotty old pyjamas for all these years?

Who cares OG switched their focus to that of Smithman nothing since to indicate they have rescinded on that.

Surely someone else has asked the same question over the years!  "Why would the Totmans keep a pair of grotty old pyjamas for all these years?"

To me it indicated that they might have known there was some importance in keeping them, but why a physical pair of pyjamas???

What would have been even more remarkable would be if he had boxed his clothing that he had been wearing that night too.  Then instead of wearing clothing similar to what he wore that night he could have been photographed in the actual clothes he wore that night.  Then I might find the resemblance "uncannily similar", but just to dress in a manner similar to a known image isn't that difficult to do.

When you think about it, it is one of the few physical bits of evidence we have ever got in this case.  We have Tapas booking sheets, Creche sheets,  OC/MW arrival lists, and a pair of grotty old pyjamas.

It’s obvious  that the theory put forward about Madeliene being taken to replace another child was based on that incident while ignoring the facts . There was no signs of an intruder in apartment 5a . To my mind anyone on the lookout for such a replacement child would not leave everything neat and tidy ,even closing the child gate  behind him/her for one thing

If the intruder came in through the front door,  he/she wouldn't have had to close the child gate.   In and out leaving it tidy. IMO

So why the window ?

It could have been opened to send the message 'I didn't have a key'   or to pass Madeleine to another person outside,  or a precaution in case someone came into the bedroom when the intruder was there,  he could make his/her getaway through the window.

It's been physically demonstrated  that couldn't have been possible but maybe you don't look at the things I do because obviously fairytale ideas while they sound reasonable in the minds of those who believe them would be destroyed in seconds .
