Who contracted them, that is the important issue.

The McCanns don't appear to have done this as far as I can see.

So how much did Mark Warner pay Bell Pottinger?
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the half million in question.

I expect that depends on when they hired them, how long they used them and what they did for them. People from Resonate were in Luz holding discussions with Mark Warner during the week before the disappearance. They recommended bring in their parent company.

Do you believe everything you read?  I'd like to see proof of this statement: "Mark Warner brought in Resonate on a generic brief a week before three-year-old Madeleine McCann was kidnapped from its Portuguese resort in Praia da Luz. MD Michael Frohlich then referred the firm to his parent company’s crisis specialist."

That is what it is beginning to look like.

I object to that as no one has shown the forum that the payments were made by the McCanns, for the benefit of the McCanns.

Do you mean to Bell Pottinger?

If so read this http://miscarriageofjustice.co/index.php?topic=6114.0

I know about it, but was it ever proven to be true?  "Lord Bell: "The McCanns paid me £500,000 in fees to keep them on the front page of every single newspaper for a year, which we did" - where is the proof that it was the McCanns that footed the bill?

Do you think the McCanns have spent in excess of £10m on media stories then?

So is Lord Bell a liar then Rob? I doubt the couple paid out of their own money but either the fund or a benefactor paid on their behalf IMO

No.
Then the fact that there are fewer stories in the press in the last year is unlikely to have anytning to do with an allleged one off payment many years ago.

He could have misspoken or had been confused at the time of saying those words.  Yes well that is what I wanted to know;  who was it that paid Bell Pottinger to keep the McCanns in the headlines for a year?
Did Gerry ever agree to that?  Was he aware that someone was doing this on his behalf?

Over here when someone was annoyed with someone else they used to order a truck load of gravel and dump it on their driveway. - being a benefactor and all that.

That doesn't compute.  If the rate was boosted in the first year any other year will have less generally.  Unless you are comparing just the last two years, well beyond the influence of the "Bell Pottinger boost".

There are several possible reasons. As to PR, a cheaper option seems to have been found;

Former BBC journalist Clarence Mitchell helped keep the story of the disappearance of three-year-old British child Madeleine McCann in the media for eight years.

So it doesn’t cost half a million per annum to keep a news story on the front pages then?

the headline and the first paragraph belongs to the reporter.

I personally object to you saying "As to PR, a cheaper option seems to have been found" as you have not proven the McCanns paid Lord Bell.

Neither have you proved they haven't. Are you calling Lord Bell a liar?
