Why are you asking me for figures?  Figures of what?    Oh wait, you want to know the number of people who enjoy a mystery!  OK, it’s 3.8 billion worldwide, 21 million of whom reside in the British Isles.
Have you included babies in that 21 million?

No, only children whose reading age covers Enid Blyton mysteries and above.

And what about coffin dodgers?  What is cut off at the other end?

Could I have a cite ? Also can I remind you that even though a section ( I’m waiting for the true figures ) of the population like mysteries it doesn’t necessarily follow that they’d be interested in the McCann mystery.

You’re having a laugh presumably.  You think there are statistics on the number of people in the UK who self-identify as enjoying a good mystery?  Tell you what, you provide me with a cite to prove the general public is bored of the McCann mystery with the sole exception of a few nutters on the internet, and I will do my best to provide statistics to show how popular mysteries are in popular culture, largely in the form of viewing figures for whodunnit movies and reading figures for mystery and crime books, both fiction and factual.

This is what I said ‘I think the public don’t care about the McCanns being abused. I think the public’s boredom threshold in relation to the McCanns was reached some time ago’

People are bored of the McCanns IMO. They don’t see them as victims so have no interest in them claiming victim hood.

And no I don’t think there are statistics.

Well you’re entitled to your opinion I suppose, but without any evidence to back it up, it’s not worth a hill of beans is it?  People - does that mean all people, most people, some people, if so how do you know which?  Have you conducted a survey on public opinion of the McCanns?  If so please present it.

Of course you are, when pushed to provide any substance to your opinion.

Oh come now! It depends upon the definition of opinion on which one relies.
I prefer the high level one in OED.

opinion
noun
a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
Pick the bones out of that.

Quite. An opinion based on nothing but the opinion holder’s bias and antipathy.   Many thanks.

I can see why VS asked Faithlilly provide any substance to her opinion.  To see if it was based on fact or knowledge.

Your opinions aren’t always based on bias and antipathy, sometimes there’s ignorance as well.
