Access Cards
« on: June 22, 2019, 08:26:37 AM »
These cards have been mentioned a couple of times. so I thought I'd post the details.

The same is the case with an access card which allows for access to all the services of the OC. This card too, is treated as is the keys (above) and is handed out one per person. Mark Warner hands these cards to its clients.

These access cards are given to each client (including babies and children), and besides permitting access to services offered by the Ocean Club, is equally used for buying drinks and food.
Later, these charges are added to the respective apartment.

The charges accrued in this way can be seen on these print-outs. It's the last colomn ob the right. These charges would be paid on check-out. Ms Jensen had been splashing the cash, but she had been there since 21st

The amounts the group owed for extras were;

The McCanns spent 242.00
The O'Briens spent 105.00
The Oldfields spent 21.00
The Paynes spent 117.50

I don't know how these extras were purchased or what they were. Were they from the cards?

We’re all the kids club sessions included or could the McCanns have paid for extra ?

I suspect that only one session per day was free (either morning or afternoon).

It could also include the tennis lessons- the McCanns loved them especially Gerry. What about the oldfields did they play a lot? or get a lot of lessons?

We only have the bookings for Tues-Thurs. The Oldfields seemed to have a lesson each day.

Whether you’re a regular tennis player or simply enjoy the occasional game, our Tennis Centres cater for all levels of ability and interest. We offer a number of coaching programmes endorsed by the Lawn Tennis Association and managed by the specialist tennis company Service Line.

Tuition is available for complete beginners through to club and county level players, and coaching can be provided in a group of balanced ability or on a one-to-one level for players aged 4 years and upwards. All group coaching and Academy Courses can be pre-booked in the UK, and we would recommend that you book early as places are limited and very popular. For those who prefer private coaching, we offer single lessons or a package of three lessons all of which are bookable in resort.

In all resorts* we ensure there is court time available for those wanting free play. We also arrange evening tennis socials, and a not too serious weekly tournament. We can provide racquets and balls for tuition, social sessions and free play.

Group Coaching
Adults & Children (over 13 yrs)
4 x 1 hour lessons
Cost £50

Kids Group Coaching
4-12 years of age
4 x 1 hour lessons
Cost £40

Private Lessons

1 x 45 minute lesson
Cost £25

Private Lesson Package
Maximum 2 persons
3 x 45 minute lessons

Strangely, the promo said the courts at OC were Astroturf but they were really hard courts.

Thanks Misty, very interesting. If those charges were for tennis lessons the Oldfields did well. They had 3 private lessons booked.

It’s not interesting or important, but it is being used in an attempt to ridicule the theory that Madeleine was abducted.  What’s your excuse?

The thread in question seems to have appeared because some people seem to think that the question 'was Madeleine abducted?' can be answered by resorting to some kind of probability calculation. in my opinion that is what is being ridiculed, not the abduction theory per se.

AFAIK I need no 'excuse' for starting a thread. My reason was that questions have been asked about these cards previously; like if they were some kind of door-opening device. It seems they were used to gain access to certain areas, such as the adult pool bar;

The bar is open exclusively to resort clients, and that control is made by means of a client card at the entrance to the bar.

Once inside, it could be used to buy food and drink and the bill would be paid at the end of the client's stay. Russell O'Brien touches on this, albeit not completely clearly;

All the meals were included in the booking as was a limited choice in drinks, if anything else was ordered there may have been a need to have made an additional payment.  I recall that orders may have been put onto a bar bill and paid at the end of the week.
