Curtains deffo look flimsy and cheap to me.  Nothing in that apartment shrieks “quality” so it would be odd if the curtains were bespoke and expensive.  IMO.

Curtains for those patio doors were never going to be cheap whether made to measure or bought off the shelf. Using flimsy and cheap fabrics would be a false economy in my opinion. It can't be decided from photos either.

They looked presentable, but the nets were very flimsy as you would expect ... and the way that the curtains hung makes me think they were there more for decoration than for keeping light in or out.  They look shoddy; cheap and cheerful, but flimsy

After all:

They had shutters for blocking the light and real privacy

And let's not forget how Matt described the colour of the light coming thru.  With such pale outside liighting they must have been very thin and lightweight.

And also lets not forget that Matt stated the room had two windows.

'He states that the bedroom has two windows. The twins occupy two cots placed in the middle of the room and Madeleine occupies a bed pushed against the wall, facing the wall which has the two windows that look out onto the outside of the complex.'

I thought it was the kids bedroom curtains that were being referred to?

They match the main bedroom curtains so I assume they were bought together. The fabric covered pelmets in three rooms suggest a theme throughout the apartment.

Possibly.
The theme being what?

BUT:

1)  A non-verbatim statement taken

2)  by a person, who speaks a different langusge ...  translating what he understood was meant

3)  from a man, Matt, who was clearly shocked; it was taken (if "taken" is the word for what happened !) only the day after Madeleine had disappeared.. and the poor bloke had been up half the night and was without doubt shocked and horrifed additionally because he hadn't looked around the corner to check Madeleine.

4)  ... and had only been in the ill-lit apartment for a matter of seconds.

Also,
In actual fact that outside length of wall carried on into Matts daughters bedroom, her window and Madeleines were the only windows in the wall, when viewed from outside.  Some misunderstanding, do you think ?

5)   ....  where Matt, the father of the little girl in the room next door to missing Madeleine was concerned that there were only two windows in the wall and it could have been his little one that had been taken.

I say it again:

Some misunderstandings there ? ... do you think ?

.....and he could see the twins breathing in their cots!

Enter Kate just half hour later & she can't tell if flat bedclothes were Maddie or not.

So Matt made mistakes in his statement because he was sleep-deprived, shocked and horrified? Did he say that or is it an assumption? In my opinion it's an assumption, so the mistakes could be due to other unknown reasons.

You wouldn't have been sleep deprived, shocked and horrified?

Hardly lumped together.  This would have been a normal reaction for a normal person.

Possibly, but does that mean I would have made mistakes in my statement? Not necessarily. That's an assumption.

Gunit, have you deliberately missed the point?

Trying to take the readers eye off the importance of all the above facts?

Especially that the words are not even Matts, but from some kindly foreign person who tried to help.

Have you deliberately missed the point?  5 of them!
