Was The MET ever going to make headway?
« on: June 25, 2021, 07:22:09 PM »
Over recent years the MET has been found institutionally racist and corrupt.

One of its own has recently admitted kidnapping, raping and responsibility for the death of Sarah Everard.

Many high profile murders and disapparances on its doorstep remain unsolved eg disappearance of Suzie Lamplugh (1986), murder of Daniel Morgan (1987) and the murder of Jill Dando (1999).

The HO has granted millions of pounds of tax-payers money to the MET to investigate the disappearance of MM.  Was it realistic to think they could succeed when the PJ hadn't?

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

I wonder if the Mc's still hold the MET in high esteem?

My thoughts are that the MET haf an almost impossible task because stranger abductions are incredibly difficult to solve. Several posters said that someone must know what happened to MM and the only hope was if someone spoke.. Who had information as to what happened.
Thats seems to be exactly whats happened. That information wont be enough to convict... But it points the investigation to the suspect and its up to them to find the evidence to convict.

If it turns out that CB is responsible then this case has only been solved due to the mccanns persistence and effort.. Thhe PJ couldnt solve it.. SY couldn't solve it.. But the mccanns persistence did

But several people have implicated others in the past eg members of T9/RM and Smith family/GM.

I think I might be sceptical some 8 years on, millons spent and a report declaring the MET institutionally corrupt.

The Needhams persist...
The Lawrences persist...
The Lamplughs persist...
The Dandos persist...
The Morgans persist...

If it wasn't for the families we would be none the wiser as to how unfit for purpose these institutions are.

Afaik most police forces in democratic countries are not found institutionally corrupt.

Its a bit like the dogs... They are not evidence in themselves but they point the police where to look. CB was singled out and its Woltersjob to find the evidence if it exists.. As  it may well do

I think thats a stupid comment.. Who has made thst claim

The amswer is no one. Its a dishonest claim. The truth is one investigation has been accused of being corrupt.. You should not besmirch the entire force with such a clsim

Officially David Cameron responded to the McCann's pleas for help to find their daughter, and so did the Home Secretary and the Metropolitan Police.

Unofficially it was said that a certain editor 'persuaded' Cameron to respond by threatening to harass the Home Secretary if he didn't. I expect there were negotiations whereby everyone got what they wanted out of the deal.

In my opinion Operation Grange, as a meaningful investigation, ended in October 2015 when it's members were reduced to just four officers.
