I think with the amount of injuries the guy sustained, I'd find it hard if I were her solicitor to talk them away if I'm honest. "25 and odd stab wounds, a slashed throat and a gun wound for good measure is hardly "We got into an argument and I hit him" territory.

I know the Alexander family is disappointed that she was not sentenced to death, but I don´t think they should be.
There would be two decades of (expensive) appeals, they would have to wait for about twenty years for closure when she would finally run out of options for appeals. Then on the day in the far future, they would not even feel any relief after her execution - almost everybody who has experienced this says so.
With a life sentence, they can start moving on and healing NOW, not in twenty years.
Besides, a life sentence is much cheaper.

The advantage of an execution verdict for TA's family is that Jodi Arias would have to spend her remaining life in a form of solitary confinement with fewer visitors and without mixing with regular prisoners as well as a couple of other death-row inmates, until she goes completely doolally and/or tops herself.

But knowing her delaying tactics, there's always a chance that she would choose a whopping great final meal which lasted a week, an Arizona heatwave would most likely delay her execution further, then the lethal-injection might become cloudy, putting a stopper on it completely while lawyers' coffers continued to fill up from further appeals for clemency... harumph!
