And the best evidence there was led the police straight to Brueckner's door - that was years ago and when they knocked apparently he wasn't in.  Fourteen years down the line the Germans invited him to come home and slapped a seven year sentence on him using forensic evidence he left behind in Portugal.

So you are right about evidence - which we are told they have in spades - with any luck they might get proof.  No need to get impatient though, we've only known about him for little over a year, he's been on the police radar since 2017 and he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

How years would you have given them if it had been the McCanns they were investigating instead, out of interest?

I don't believe Madeleine wandered out,  for one it was dark and two she didn't put her shoes on.  There was the open window,  that the McCann's didn't open.   There was the man who was seen staring at the apartment.   I believe she was abducted and that it was planned.

Amaral leaked sufficient evidence to flag up the German paedophile in a German jail.  Flamin' press!!! they can't get nothin' right.  Amaral had to break his cover again and point them in the right direction to a German paedophile in a German jail that no-one but the investigators even knew his name.

He worked really really hard at trying to blow the German case into oblivion.

I suggest that without the Amaral interventions it is perfectly possible that Brueckner's name still wouldn't be in the public domain and the investigation into him and perhaps others would be proceeding without notoriety.

I think the investigation made the best of a bad job and asked the public to fill any gaps in their knowledge.

In the interim any who had hard drives or storage devices which might have contained evidence had been flagged up that it might be time to get them sorted out.

If Madeleine is alive somewhere she won't be in that location when the investigators reach it.

I think Goncalo Amaral and his paranoia caused disruption in 2007.  But not nearly as much as he did in 2019 when he broke cover on Saunokonoko's entertainment show in the attempt to wreck the German investigation.

From what HCW says he has proof beyond reasonable doubt Maddie was abducted and murdered... Im happy to wait before jumping to any conclusions

Re your bolded quote - I thought that too.  The phraseology implies that the police are the bad guys and CB the innocent victim.  IMO.
