How so?  They are metal strips are they not?  How do they get tangled up with each other?  The fact is - you don't know exactly how these particular shutters would behave if rammed up at an angle and then an attempt made to  gently loosen them back into place.

No, I don't, but I do know how temperamental that type of shutters are. I had to have mine mended as did the McCanns. I also know what I'm trying to explain, but can't. All I know is that if the shutters are higher at one side the inside strap won't work them.

I will tell you the when and how of what I think happened.

The apartment was being watched.   The abductor knew that the checks were made every half hour or so.

The McCann's left for dinner and arrived at the Tapas Bar at eight thirty.

Matt did a listening at the window,  reported all was quiet when he arrived at the Tapas Bar.

However Gerry decided to do a check anyway,  he left just after nine o'clock.

When the abductor saw Matt do his check,   he thought he had thirty minutes in which to abduct Madeleine.   He enters through the front door having a key.  However,  he is alerted by Gerry entering in through the patio doors.   He either hides or goes back out through the front door.   When Gerry leaves,  he opens the window,  incase someone else arrives at the apartment.   He either passes Madeleine through the window to an accomplice or he leaves through the front door.

When later Matt does his check,   the room seems lighter,  that is because the shutter is open but the curtains hides the fact.   When Kate enters the room,  the wind blows the curtains open to reveal the shutters are open and window open.  IMO

Matt refutes this in his rogatory. He no longer says that the room is lit from outside, but says the light is coming from behind him (the lamp on the sofa):

Now the room was, we talked also in the interviews about how light the room was and whether I could see the shutters, and I can't see the shutters because the curtains were shut and, they're similar curtains to the ones you've got in there, and you just get an impression of just like green and yellow, but they were closed, they weren't sort of blowing about, because I'm sure I'd have noticed if there was sort of movement like that. But the room seemed light, and we spent a lot of time talking about this, whether it could be light coming in from the street outside, but there was a light behind us in the room and for some reason I thought, I got the impression of light coming through the doorway from behind me, which his why I said that I thought perhaps the moon was out, erm, but there as no sort of, you know, it's a questions of whether, there was no sort of slats of light coming through the back that particularly caught my eye. So I didn't specifically see the shutters and I couldn't say that they were definitely open, but certainly the curtains were shut and everything was quiet'.

'You weren't conscious of light coming through that window but the room was light enough for you to see into it''

Reply 'Yeah. I mean, the difficult thing about that is, when we talked about it afterwards, I agonised for whether it seemed as though there was light coming through the room. And I have to say my answer then was probably more accurate, in that, the room was lighter than I expected but I definitely didn't see the shutters up, the curtains were definitely not disturbed and the shutters would have had to have been completely up, I presume, not to get that sort of, because they were shutters that went solid but when you lifted them they had gaps of light, and I wasn't aware of that and it may well be that the light was just the source from behind'.

Sounds plausible.  Sounds logical (to me at any rate, though I don't exclude other points of entry/exit at a later time in the evening prior to 10pm).  I expect Billy to try and tell you why it is not.  I wouldn't expect any other sceptic or serious researcher to have a go at explaining why they think your theory is illogicial and implausible though.

We don't know when and we don't know through which door or window the intruder entered or through which door or window the intruder exited.

We don't know why the window was opened but we do know that Rebelo ran a reconstruction which included passing a large bundle through the window.  Suggesting he was checking the feasibility of Madeleine being passed out that way.

For years sceptics ruled that raising the shutter from outside could not be done.  That is a proven lie.  It has been proven that it is possible and I think everyone posting here knows that for a fact because they have watched demonstrations of it being done..

I think the arguments about entry and exit points is a distraction and deflection from the main point that Madeleine McCann vanished from her bed and a stranger with an horrific profile is presently investigators prime suspect.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Mrs Fenn has told police how she scared off an intruder she found in her apartment in the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz in the weeks leading up to Madeleine's disappearance.

There was no sign of a break-in and police believe he may have used a key to get in through the front door.

The terrified mother was watching TV in the evening and went to investigate a noise coming from her bedroom.

Mrs Fenn, who has lived in Praia da Luz for a number of years, discovered a man scrambling out of the window.

This supports the idead of a window being opened as a means of escape if caught

Or locked doors but open windows.

Why then this - "There was no sign of a break-in and police believe he may have used a key to get in through the front door"?  Did they not consider that the intruder came in through the window instead?

Do you read nothing that is posted on this forum.  Scientifically the effect that Kate reported experiencing was almost certainly as a result of the VENTURI EFFECT.

Please desist from posting in denial of that witness statement by introducing another which is irrelevant to that witness statement and explanation of why Kate experienced it and Matt did not.

Such posting consists of nothing more or less than perpetrating a slur.

How many times are you going to run with that canard.  If you know nothing about a subject please refrain from pontificating about it.

EVERYBODY here with the slightest knowledge KNOWS how the shutter was raised from the outside.  Gerry demonstrated his lack of knowledge and you have just exhibited yours.

So if they were opened from the outside what was stopping them falling back down?

Mrs Fenn describes a burglar who was disturbed scrambling out of the window. It's not something you could do whilst carrying a child.

It's reasonably safe to assume that the alleged abductor would have to be watching the apartment. They therefore know that entry and exit via the unlocked patio doors is the easiest and quickest route.

Could you explain what you mean by this?  Are you saying that it would be impossible to remove a child from an apartment via a window?

Please, with respect, can you refrain from the insulting tone. I read about the venturi effect. I am familiar with it through my line of work. Matt didn't encounter the venturi effect nor any odd draughts because the shutter was down and the window closed when he did his check, in my opinion and supported by his rogatory statement.

What on earth does your second paragraph mean?

Since when was the posting of a witness statement deemed to be "perpetrating a slur"? What it is helping to do is trying to establish if the shutters and window were indeed closed during Matt's check.

But no evidence was presented to support either on the night in question. One of the possible reasons is addressed by G-Unit. It's just speculation. We need to look at the evidence from the night in question.

Doesn't "no sign of a break in" imply that the intruder did not come through the window of Mrs Fenn's apartment? They just scrambled out that way in a hurry once disturbed. That suggests to me her window and shutters were open and the nearest escape route. That's just speculation though on my part.

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here.

Maybe you could try instead to look at reasons to make those shutters behave differently to what is shown in the video.
