I completely agree. Apply that also to Mr. Gonçalo Amaral and Mr. Bennett, among others.

Both have been before duly constituted legal bodies and found to be in breach of the law- common criminals.

The rule of law requires that where there is evidence, criminals are brought to justice. In these two cases they have been brought to justice.

Should I ever be suspected or even be accused of any illegal acts - I would expect the judiciary of any civilised
country to uphold and honour these simple, yet fundamental principles.

In an ideal world maybe but that is not the case even in the UK.  You might have the right to be treated as innocent but more than often the suspect is treated as the guilty part even before they are charged or indicted.  Only to often in England a suspect is tried by the press even before they get to court.

People have a right to privacy but in many cases it is through their own actions in seeking publicity in the first place that they lose that right.  As we are discussing the McCann case, did you know that McCann contacted the press even before the police arrived and gave then a lot of information?

Could you provide evidence for your claim that the McCanns contacted the press before the police. I also am of the understanding that it is a myth which is maliciously spread by many people to denigrate the McCanns.

I will be interested to be proved wrong on the matter and as you seem to know about it, will look forward to seeing the evidence.

I genuinely do not know of any evidence to support this claim. But if you are unsuccessful I would hope that Sandy who made the claim can point to the details somewhere.
