What were these men doing that aroused suspicion?
Or was it just by way of them being male that they should be suspected of involvement in Madeleine's dissappeance?

That's never been really explained.  And only after the event.
The 'witnesses' were quite content for these men to be suspicious before the event and to do nothing about it.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

Yeah, because this is the only case ever where witnesses have come forward after the event to say that they saw someone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the crime scene.

It would also be untrue.

As are the accusations that money was Amaral's motivation imo.

If it wasn’t a motivation he would have donated the entire proceeds to charity, or published online for free.  Of course it was a motivation, just because he claimed more principled reasons for writing it (snort!) it doesn’t mean that money was not also a motivating factor.  Being an author, a writer is a chosen career.  Careers are usually remunerative.

So it's not libel if I say Jon Clarke wrote a book to make a profit for himself?

I seem to remember Brueckner describing Jon Clarke's search for Maddie as a 'comic'.

Anyway, true story, I remember at early primary school, we had been asked to read a short book & then write a brief review about it afterward, I read 'The Elves & The Shoemaker', keen of wit even at a young age, my one word review of the book simply read 'cobblers'. My teacher was not impressed.

I wonder what Paulo Pereira C’s motivation was to publish three books on missing children in the Algarve.

But not his sole motivation as has been insinuated.

I don’t think anyone has insinuated any such thing however far more direct accusations of witnesses lying for money have been made.   I reckon if it’s ok to do this without any actual evidence then it’s fine to accuse Amaral of lying for money too, what say you?

It's claimed he wrote his book to defend his honour which I don't believe...otherwise why didn't he write a book defending his attempt to cover up the torture of a suspect

Amaral has been accused of all sorts without any evidence. Perhaps because he made it difficult for the McCanns to regain their reputations. His opinion that the suspect produced by the Germans and Operation Grange was being set up as a patsy probably ensured that the evidence against him had to be definitive. At the moment that doesn't seem to have been achieved.

that sighting has always struck me as potentially significant, but was hastily deemed not relevsnt to the investigation by the PJ for reasons best known to themselves.
Regarding the facts in question, he states that he had already contacted the OH in May of 2007 and at this time relayed to the police that at around 06H00 in the morning on the 4th May, 2007, he saw a couple passing the Marina de Lagos. The man was carrying the child. It was ascertained at that time that the aforementioned situation would not be of interest to the investigation.  Date: 2008/04/24

According to the witness
  • it was reported to the police at the time
  • it was decided that it would be of no interest to the investigation
Bearing in mind the investigation concerned a missing child I too find it quite extraordinary that someone made that assessment and nothing was recorded in the interim report.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Why do you think Amaral felt it necessary to lie about the suspect’s physical appearance and that of his vehicle?

When is it going to penetrate that to date, Amaral has got absolutely nothing right from Calpol and dogs to false photoshopped images of Brueckner.

Neither was his propaganda war against the McCanns really anything to do with them other than a means to an end because they refused to give up on their daughter as he wished them to do.

Brueckner is prime suspect in crime against Madeleine McCann in Germany and in Britain.  In Portugal he is arguido.

Unlike you I rather think that quite a lot has been achieved among which has been the total destruction of the facade which was Amaral and the vindication of Madeleine's parents whose constant presence demanded that the Amaral theories have at long last hit the dustbin which is where all disproven theories end up.

Amarals understanding of the dog alerts and dna was pathetic...that's a proven fact....he was found guilty of lying in court......another proven fact..he tried to cover up the torture of a suspect...another proven fact

Amaral said there wasn't any abductor, fact.

The three investigative forces are having no success in proving him wrong, another fact.
