It would depend if an enticement was offered.
I mentioned an enticement in my post.  Please re-read and give a straight answer.

So what?  Recollections may vary.  We know this is a human fallibility.
Question: would CB (a man you yourself described as “without doubt a danger to women”) be behind bars on a rape conviction if it hadn’t been for Busching’s evidence?

Of course. The hair put him at the scene.

If you want this discussion to carry on can I suggest you alter your tone.

The police had the hair for years.  It was an unsolved case.  What changed?

Released October 2022.

Everything the Germans have claimed they knew seems to have been exaggerated.

O que é que se passa?
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

How do you work that out from your link?
My question exactly.

Who knows. As I said we’d have to know the exact chronology of events to know that.

Come on Faithlilly, the answer is clear as day and staring you in the face!!  Why does it pain you so much to face up to the fact that the answer is that Busching came forward with his revelation, the police took his information seriously and it resulted in a very dangerous rapist being convicted and imprisoned?!  You can play about with the chronology as much as you like but there’s no getting away from the fact that without Busching there would have been no conviction.  He id’ed the rapist and his identification was confirmed by the hair.   You’re looking extremely silly by refusing to acknowledge this and pretending you don’t know what turned a cold case into a solved case so no wonder you don’t wish to continue the discussion.

I don't think Madeleine's case ever really had to become a cold case if a little common sense had been applied in the first instance by investigators who had a clue about what they should have been doing in a missing child case.

They didn't - which is why Amaral and his acolytes have kept the waters muddied for all those intervening years.

The spurious Operation Grange Remit being just another ploy in that process.

Once Amaral had been sacked from Madeleine's case, I think it became obvious to the new investigation just how detrimental that incompetence actually was.  Which resulted in an unsolvable case till 2017 when an insider was able to spill the beans by delivering and sharing some of the information and evidence necessary to shed light on events which happened in Luz 2007.

Portuguese police are still investigating the possibility that Madeleine was kidnapped, it emerged yesterday, even though Madeleine's British parents are formal suspects in the case, along with 33-year-old British expatriate Robert Murat.

Alipio Ribeiro, the national director of the Policia Judiciaria, told the Portuguese weekly newspaper, Expresso, that abduction "has not been discounted."

He said: "We are assessing all possibilities. New information reaches us every week. Doors are never closed in these cases because there's always the surprise element."

A police source involved in the investigation from the start also said he believed abduction was still the strongest line of inquiry, and that there was no evidence to incriminate the McCanns in their daughter's disappearance.

"Abduction was always one of the main lines of investigation. Initial suspicions pointed towards the little girl having been taken by a sexual predator," said the source.

"I don't know why that line of investigation was totally abandoned, as there was no concrete evidence to incriminate the McCann couple."

I think you've got hold of the wrong end of the stick.  The Remit was not spurious, using the Remit as an argument for claiming that Operation Grange is somehow tainted or corrupt or false is the spurious bit.   People such as yourself have leapt  upon the word "abduction" in the remit and made an absolute mountain out of a molehill.  That's the definition of spurious..
