See, there you go again, implying that the McCanns are calculating, heartless, uncaring parents. Did it occur to you that the McCanns may have taken professional advice on this matter from people who do actually know what they are talking about and who don't see the offering of a reward as the simple solution to the case that you seem to see it as?
That's the problem you see. The people they are talking to and taking advice from are a useless bunch. One of them was responsible for an innocent man being imprisoned for years for the murder of Jill Dando yet remains in post. That clown of a detective and a few others of the same ilk should have been booted out but no he and they are still there advising people like the McCanns and no doubt looking to stitch up the next poor sod with some sort of learning difficulty who is easily influenced. Amaral must be laughing his socks off at them with their latest suspect list which in the end and £millions later will lead nowhere.
Maybe the McCanns are content to follow the official line and keep their heads down? A little PR here, an odd interview there once in a while, an occasional fun run and not forgetting Kates patronage of a missing children organisation. All great stuff but how exactly will any of this go any way to finding their daughter after 6 long years???
So you completely dismiss out of hand any of the potential downsides associated with the business of offering a reward? You are obviously very knowledgeable about the benefits of offering a reward - perhaps you can give some real-life examples of people found because of the reward offered?
After 6 years wasted what downsides exactly are we talking about? We already have the downside, Madeleine is as much lost as she was on 3rd May 2007. The offer of a reward has brought forward much information over the years, the police use this tool regularly as do the national Press when they get involved. Do you really believe they wouldn't offer a reward if there was little success of it being of assistance? The UK charity Crimestoppers use rewards regularly in all sorts of cases which again proves that the offer of a reward is conducive to solving cases.
You must address your concerns to the Scotland Yard Review Team - perhaps they can shed some light on it.
Why, always, the vehement objection to the McCanns, themselves, being directly questioned about anything ?
What is the problem with asking them to clarify whether or not a reward is on offer ?
What reason exists that prevents them from giving a clear and straightforward answer to such a simple question ?
What do you mean "direct" questions to the McCann? Do you think they're posting on this forum? And even if they WERE, do bear in mind that:
1. WE do not have the right to question
them about anything. SY is currently conducting a review of the case, the McCann are co-operating with them. (If in doubt, please see Judge Tugendhat's sentencing report re. McCann vs Bennett)
2. By the same token,
THEY have no legal obligation to satisfy ANYONE'S need to pry into their private affairs, thoughts or actions about anything concerning this case.
We can speculate til the cows come home why THEY didn't say this, or why THEY didn't do that etc etc. Nobody here afaik can answer any direct questions to the McCann.
