So the editors made it all up? You mean with mitchell breathing down their backs?getting paid 75 k a year? Pull the other one, otherwise you are very near to sayng mitchell was responsible for all the stories, wouldnt surprise me though, the media black arts are quite horrendous

LOL Nobody said they made it up, they reported a comment made by the McCanns - for some reason, they found it newsworthy.

What was the comment? And why did they make it?

For the third time...

Mr and Mrs McCann, both 39, said last night that they were prepared to take a lie detector test if requested by the Portuguese authorities. “Kate and Gerry are happy to do anything that will help them to clear their names,” a source close to the couple said. “They have said all along that they want to cooperate fully with the Portuguese police, but as of today they have received no such request.”

No, it hasn't backfired on them, they didn't lie & they didn't refuse to take a lie detector test. Apart from the Jeremy Kyle variety, which they never said they would do anyway. Please be aware that a few anonymous nutters screaming online & spreading lies aren't actually important in the real scheme of things.

I don't know why the 'sceptics' even bother to bring up the subject of Polygraphs.  We all know that if the McCanns took one and passed, they'd all be claiming 'it was fixed'.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Of course they would & I'm actually glad that they have chosen to ignore the majority of these mindless fools who think they have a right to conduct trials by internet based on baseless speculation. Bennett of course was the exception & he got what he deserved.

This was counterproductive, people started to suspect them with a certain reason. They should have firmly denied they had even thought of doing such a test.
In the US parents of missing children ask to be tested to make sure the investigation will concentrate on the child.

Elizabeth Smart's father did and we are told that the McCanns set great store by his advice.
Brietta posted on 10/04/2022 “But whether or not that is the reason behind the delay I am certain that Brueckner's trial is going to take place.”

Let’s count the months, shall we?
