Why not indeed - as no alerts anywhere else flies in the face of Martin Grime's claims about his dogs.

My own opinion is that whether the dogs alert or not is largely dependent on how much time they are allowed to search or are encouraged to search.     Also in this case I think 'unconscious cueing' was a real possiblity.

Or flies in the face of your interpretation of his claims ?

I haven't interpreted his claims I have repeated them.

What do you think his claims were regarding the abilities/skills of his dogs?
The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I think his claims are true Sadie -  and his dogs can detect minute traces of material/blood both from the present and also going back decades.    But that means there must be other reasons why there were no alerts anywhere else   - and in places where it is is impossible to believe that not a single drop of blood had ever been spilt over such a long period of time.

It is unfortunate that Mr Grime wrongly chose to use the term cadaver scent in his Report thereby insinuating that the dog detected signs of a corpse when we know that the dogs can react to many other substances.

He also knows that his claims cannot be substantiated or challenged as no such substance has ever been found worthy of forensic analysis.   8(0(*

I think Grimes choose his words very carefully while writing his report as he knew the weigh they would carry.

Aww Thank you Sadie,   I'm certainly no expert -  but I have read Martin Grime's statements and done some research on sniffer dogs in general.   It's a fascinating subject.

It is, indeed, quite remarkable that no one ever bled any apartment other than in apartment 5a ...

Or is it that Eddie (finally) detected a scent of blood in apartment 5a because the dog spent far longer in that apartment than any of the others.

Or could Eddie's, apparent, "reaction", same as (undoubtedly) cuddle-cat have been alerting error?

Which other substances ? Eddie didn't react to cadaverine, this is an important fact.

Keela wasn't sent to the other flats : without cadaver scent, no use.

CANINE SEARCH OF MR McCANN'S VILLA, PRESENT OCCUPANCY.

The villa interior, garden, and all property within were searched by the EVRD. The only alert indication given was when the dog located a pink cuddly toy in the villas lounge. The CSI dog did not alert to the toy when screened separately.

It is my view that it is possible that the EVRD is alerting to cadaver scent contamination. No evidential or intelligence reliability can be made from this alert unless it can be confirmed with corroborating evidence.

Martin Grime might have seen it as an alert, I saw it as playing with cuddle cat. So how did he alert to it, when it was moved and put in a cupboard? Why was it allowed to be moved?  >@@(*&)

Yep, quite remarkable as you say. >@@(*&)  Similarily quite remarkable as Kates finger prints being the only ones found on the window >@@(*&)  yet everyone would be fiddling with it looking out.

Also remarkable that the Front door was totally and utterly ignored as a possible entry point.
Yet it was the most likely place, as it was deeply recessed in a very dark spot, and completely hidden to anyone crossing the front parking lot to block 5.

Also strange that the PJ told Gerry that they had proof that a dead Madeleine had been carried in their hire car.  A car that wasn't hired until several weeks afterwards.

Of course an empty threat, a lie like that 8()(((@#, was preferable to torturing Gerry ... to illicitly get a confession out of him ... very sinister tho !

Perhaps you should put these enquiries in a letter and send them to Mr Grime. I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear from you  8)-)))
