Isn't it going to be a bit embarrassing if it turns out to be old Mrs Murat's dead cat?

The only positive thing I can say is that I was impressed with his honesty about his reasons for starting the endeavour, he wanted 'world wide fame'.

That's it. The rest just made me cringe.

There was huge reward offered initially, that & the chance for world wide fame.
I admire his honesty & as he said his motivation changed.

Why don't they (Gov, Murat etc) just allow the dig?  It wouldn't take long or be costly.
Just prove him wrong & shut him up.
What can they be afraid of?

I agree with this. If it were me, I'd let him dig.

For those of you who don't have 45 mins to spare on Mr Birch, his main theory is expounded from around 17:00 in the documentary (after he describes his 'religious journey' in pursuing this case).

He claims that DNA evidence was removed from Madeleine's corpse and planted above one of the wheels in the McCann's car in order to deflect attention away from Robert Murat and onto Gerry McCann. Files relating to the episode were passed from Portuguese authorities on to Theresa May, who is concealing them from the public.

He gives no actual explanation as to how the DNA was planted and by whom, and what in general was supposed to have happened on May 3rd, citing the issue of libel.

He speaks at length about diplomatic relations in the EU and how he believes these to be a factor in the case. But the main thesis is as above.

...quote deleted ...

hes actually put out a disclaimer in one of his videos that he doesnt think either the mccanns or murat were involved, I dont thnk Ive ever seen anything where he intimates who he does thnk was involved

See previous thread here, first video

The man makes little sense to me...I have no idea why in hs latest video he said Tanner saw a rasta man ??? and 4 days later?? identified Murat who was clean shaven etc. Both false. He then says before Madeleine was buried on the evening of May 3,  the perpetrator took some of her dna to plant it in the car that the Mccanns would hire three weeks later...in order to deflect attention from Murat....how did he know Murat would become a suspect? Or the Mccanns wouldhire a car? At that time?.. he has got so many facts wrong, and his theories just dont gel, shame hes spent all that  money lol, obviously has more of it than sense..oh well all part of lifes rich tapestry.....even the presenter furrowed her brow one too many times

I tried to watch 5 minutes of the video but couldn't. He hasn't got a clue by the sounds of it. Buried under Murat's drive  8-)(--)
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

Try watching again before dismissing him as clueless without hearing his reasons for his theory, or here to read a version...
apologies, it's a blog

His theory could be proved wrong (or right) in next to no time for no significant cost,
The very fact that no one will allow it is enough to make me question why.

What gave him the idea Maddie was buried there in the first place? And on May 3? Theres too many gaps in his story for me....

You have a point, if it were me I would say dig the place up you idiot....and then shut up....then again, he is not PJ or SY or anyone remotely like that...if some nutter said youhad a girls body buried in your garden would you let him dig? Especially when he claimed he broke in night after night and ran his lawnmover all over the place....if the police asked me I might say ok

Yep if the police asked but why won't they ask?

Birch would probably pay & conduct the dig himself.

I think there were rumours that Gerry was seen by Murat's in the first searches from those missing statements (Raj/Berry) but how would people know?

I imagine the police dont ask because theyve looked at the *evidence* from Birch and seen nothing worthy?
I mean lets face it the Pj spent thousands of man hours chasing up ridiculous leads including psychic ones, oh yes, many of which Gerry provided them with! when they were investigating...if they thought there was anything to this dont you think thry would have done something? I mean seriously.....

I looked at the link and still couldnt see why Birch got the idea Maddie was buried there

Is he that very different from the armchair detectives here who truly believe they know better than the legal authorities about what really happened.

Fantasists all!

Well he spent a load of his own time & money investigating, travelled all the way to Luz and got his hoover out, had contact with the Portuguese authorities and the British police.

So yes I'd say he is quite different.

And those who believe there was an abductor (or even 2) , are they not fantasists?

Agreed. I have never said there was an abductor. All I have said is that it is logically impossible to prove the falsity of abduction- it remains a possibility.
