One thing that makes this Birch thing much worse than words on forums, is the physical intrusion.

There is no reason why the Murat driveway cannot be excavated.  The PJ could do it tomorrow if they wanted.  Point is there is nothing to justify such an excavation.

On the other hand, if I were Robert Murat I would arrange to have it dug up under the auspices of the Portuguese police and then sue Birch for trespass etc...
De troothe has the annoying habit of coming to the surface just when you least expect it!!

Je ne regrette rien!!

Me neither.

There was something though just after the child went missing. I found a small article that a body wrapped in plastic material was found in an underwater cavern/cave near Heulva. I was quite excited about it, and waited days for more information.

I found nothing. Not one word anywhere. It was there though really I know i never dreamt it... Probably nothing to do with the case, but it was odd it just disappeared. I had it on my laptop on bookmark but the stupid thing overtime zapped and I lost everything.

I oftened wondered who it was.

It was an adult male, I remember it, got caught when swimming by over strong currents

According to one of the links posted by WS earlier, Murat has agreed recently in theory with provisos, well, according to Birch. Not that I would take his word for anythng much. The more I listen to him and read what he has written, the more I thnk he is an utter fruitcase.

Yes i thought that myself, then thinking about it when will it end?

It never ends for Murat, and perhaps he just wants no more of it, i cant say I blame him.

I would expect there have been things going on we are not privvy too perhaps.

I cant imagine the child is buried there, i still dont understand how anyone could do that without someone noticing like Mrs Murat for example.....

No I think i would take the 5th amendment if I was Murat too. Its time to move on for him perhaps. Its just my thoughts but I really do see where your coming from.

If you were Murat's mother and had your house totally scrutinized in 2007, and your garden digged and georadared by a team of 20 people (some of which were certified scientists from Aveiro University), and dogs sniffing every corner of your place, would you subject yourself to a whim by a confessed transgressor that had invaded your property without asking your permission.

There are limits for a person's tolerance. Murat was fully investigated, the McCann & friends were not, it's time the batteries point to the right direction.

I agree, Luz.

And if it's not advisable to answer police questions without risk of incrimination, I certainly wouldn't invite police to dig up my driveway.

Great post again Luz. Yes I totally agree. Enough is enough for Murats.

I dont quite know where this Stephen Birch fits in or why he is doing what he is doing, but when i listened to what he had to say 30 minutes of it nearly on The Peoples Voice, he started sort of ok, then transcended.....into garbage sadly. Accusing the police of holding the body to use the DNA to stitch up the McCanns....then i thought hang on a minute what a great way of doing a bit of advertising for the McCanns again lol....DNA....PJ......STITCH UP MCCANNS with planted SCENT of the child.

Then i realised why he was given air time.... 8(>((

I hadn't considered that it's actually Jenny Murat's property (which is terrible of me really) She's not a young woman anyone. Perhaps she just desires some peace.

It does put it a different slant on it.

If police had good enough reason to believe that there was something of substance to Mr Birch's claims, they would get a warrant - irrespective of poor old Mrs Murat's feelings.

Of course Birch claims that the PJ have something to hide.

Does anyone happen to know, if SY had reason at this point to search the Murat's property - or any property in PdL - how would they go about this legally? If the PJ or residents were unhelpful for whatever reason, would there be anything they could do?

I dont know the answer to that, maybe one of the posters more au fait with these matters can explain, perhaps this goes a little way in explaining

http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2013/10/maddie-case-pj-has-already-carried-out.html

The British authorities sent a letter of request to the Portuguese for assistance, what the terms and details are I have no idea.....in any case...I doubt SY  just like the PJ would  have any good reason to dig up the Murat family garden based on the lunatics "evidence"

Besides, the cadaver dog went all over the place in 2007, his abilities in detecting a scent of death were up to a metre underground through  concrete and this joker says Madeleine is buried a few inches down...and penetrating radar equipment was used as well back then.....

I agree, Red, that SY probably have no reason to dig up Murat's property. And even if they would be tempted to do so even if only in order to rule his theory out, it would be bad PR for them to be seen to act on the whimsy of a Tom Dick or Harry coming along with a theory out of nowhere. It would make SY look weak, and could also give the impression they had nothing better to work with. So I don't think we'll see much movement on the Birch score.

The issue is broader than Birch, however, because SY could easily - and hopefully will - come up with new information or leads as part of their ongoing inquiry, that may need the assistance of PdL residents in following up. What powers would SY actually have in persuading Portuguese residents to co-operate with them if necessary? Could they arrange search warrants, for example, if the home owner objected to co-operating with them? How do these things actually work?

I think birch is another carpetbagger...lets say he got permission to dig up murats drive...he would then try and sell tv rights...IMO
