I am answering a question by Faithfully Stephen.

It is how I understand what was said.

If you notice the word is 'relatives'  with an 's'  not 'relative' as in one relative.  So the fact that one of the baby sitters is a relative is beside the point.

He is saying he has only left Madeleine with relatives once since the twins were born.  'Madeleine' not all three children,  left with relatives with an s only once since the twins were born.

Except that's not what he said Lace :

''He ( Gerry ) states that since the twins were born, he and Kate have gone out at night only once, leaving the children with relatives.''

Leaving the children with relatives,  with an s.    This to my way of thinking means leaving them in the house of relatives and not baby sitters coming to the house.   If he meant baby sitters he would have said so.

He had a Portuguese Brief!  I think he would have signed it only after taking advice.

The babysitter was a relative and generally you'd say relatives and not a relative.

I wouldn't say relatives I would say baby sitters as that is what they were.

In my opinion Gerry was saying that only once the children had gone to releatives to stay for Kate to have a complete rest.

The question to him in my opinion was skirting around the accusation that they had thought about handing Madeleine over to  relatives.

I have seen some nonsense in my time but that tops even Sadie's.

Problem with you Faithfully is you will not think any other way than that the McCann's are lying.   You see things you want to see.

Why would Gerry say that knowing his baby sitters would no doubt be interviewed?

And the problem with you Lace is that don't appear to mind making yourself look foolish.

I don't care about making myself look foolish to you Faithfully as your opinion doesn't matter to me.

Gerry is saying he only left the children once with relatives when they went out.   Not that he only left them once with baby sitters.

Madeleine spent Christmas 2005 with her nanny, Eileen. The twins would have been about 10 months old.

ETA, By the way Eileen is a relative  8((()*/

leaving the children with relatives could mean leaving the children at the house of relatives or leaving the children at his house with relatives. Could anyone tell me which of these Gerry was referring to... I think the answers NO
