I don't think that's the original quote the McCann's were referring to; it's just a pointer that the quote about kidnapping one of the twins might have existed at some point and the dated letter (2009) is only a guide.

Personally I don't think it was inspired by Amaral's book, just that the McCanns are using it as ammunition. Sometimes people talk silly things without really meaning anything.

To put it context I would like see the original quote on 3A's, how it started and how it ended...not just a snippet from a whole conversation.

I'd like to know why Michael Wright had no idea what happened after he reported this disturbing conversation he had  'monitored'  on the internet to North Yorkshire Police

I mean he was so worried about something he had seen  on a forum that he involved his local police force   ...  yet he never  'followed up''  his own report  ...  he never asked the police what had become of it

He didn't want to know  what the outcome was  ...  he wasn't  'worried'  enough to find out from the police if the threat was  serious or not,  or what the the police had concluded about the report he had made to them   ?

I'd like to know about that

MW did not report the matter to the police, he informed the Mccanns about it.

Michael Wright told the Judge he had contact with the police over the matter   ...  read his court transcript

He did not report the matter to the police as you claim, read the transcripts.

Icabod didn't say what you just said he did. Read his post.

Why not   ?

If it was that worrying and distressing  ...  why not  ?

You were responding (in kind) to "Michael Wright told the Judge he had contact with the police over the matter   ...  read his court transcript"

Yes, initially and then corrected himself but you responded to that post and paraphrased him incorrectly.  Keep up!  8(0(*

I was wrong   ...   I'm sorry

So tell me,  when Michael Wright told the McCanns about this distressing conversation on a forum  ...  so distressing that that the McCanns called the police  ...  what then  ?

Did Michael Wright not mention it again  ? ...  Did he not ask,  "Gerry,  what happened about that terrifying threat to the twins that I told you about  ?   ...  what did the police do about it  ?"

He just told them and then forgot all about it  ?

Why was it that he could not tell the the Judge what the police concluded ?

Icabodcrane does have a point. MW replies:

"ID - asks if it's possible to put the paper copy on the internet?
MW thinks the 3A doesn't exist anymore. He says the McCanns took action against this threat and against the Madeleine Foundation. The main page of MF had the 5 conclusions.

ID asks whether he has a copy.
MW says he has screen shots. He adds he had to tell his cousins about the threats. They reported them to the UK police (Leicestershire Police). He was visited by a police officer on the matter.

ID - Was a process formally investigated?
MW had only one contact with the police. He doesn't know what happened afterwards."

As the police contacted MW albeit on one occassion and as Gerry McCann reported it wouldn't it be feasible to think that he and Gerry McCann would have discussed it at some point? If so (as Icabodcrane has already pointed out) then surely MW would  know the outcome if there was one? Unless Gerry McCann didn't follow it up of course.

And if GM didn't follow it up, then it can hardly be argued that it was viewed as a serious issue at the time and therefore can hardly have been the traumatic incident it has been made out to be since.  It's this relentless pursuit of emotional sentimentality that is undermining what little public sympathy remains for the McCanns I feel.

ID - Was a process formally investigated?

Why would ID ask her witness such a question if she knew her witness didn't know the answer to it?

Obviously ID knows the answer, so can't imagine her asking such a question if her witness didn't.
