The breathtaking hypocrisy of those that support the McCanns
« on: September 22, 2013, 12:01:50 PM »
If I was to say, "the McCanns should have been locked up for child neglect for leaving their kids in danger," then we all know what answer we will get from the McCann fanclub, "they didn't break any laws as the Portuguese system requires INTENT to harm so there!"

Pardon me, but isn't this breathtaking hypocrisy?  It's saying it's ok that they did something that WOULD have had them prosecuted in this country because they did it in a country where they didn't break the law.

How do you live with yourselves using that kind of "logic"?  Let alone then trying to take the moral high ground in saying anyone doubting the word according to the McCanns is a "[ censored word ]", "[ censored word ]", "unempathetic" or worse.

I love it!!! You already know what strangers will poist! That's a rare and happy talent you have there. Makes me wonder why you bother posting if you already know how a thread will end.

That'd be a useful application of talent, doing someone some good, wouldn't it?

Unfortunately C.Edwards the hypocrisy is lost on their devout followers.

OK, let's turn this question on its head.

What about the breathtaking hypocrisy of the Amaral supporters.

Calling a man who swindled his own brother, threatened to shoot his lover's husband with a "golden bullet" and has a conviction for perjury a "man of honour and courage".

As far as I know, Kate and Gerry McCann have not been to court for swindling their own siblings, threatened to shoot anyone or have any convictions whatsoever.

Discuss.

This case is about the Mccanns, not Amaral.

OK, so if that's the case John will be wiping all the libel case discussions then.

As far as I am concerned you are making an absolute idiot of yourself...the McCanns would not have been prosecuted for leaving their children, british couples have been doing it since the days of butlins and are still doing it now...neither have I have ever seen posts defending the action on the basis they didn't break the law so on that count you are a liar.

Good post, dave.  People go mysteriously quiet when the Pontins/Butlins cycling nanny point is raised.

As Bjork once said, "It's oh so quiet..."

just to show you that "baby monitoring is alive and well check out the link from a hotel I recently stayed at..

http://www.watergatebay.co.uk/stay/families/parents/

It says parents should not leave the hotel grounds... The 15 restaurant is further from the hotel than the tapas bar

Perhaps Edwards should phone the police and have them all arrested. What an idiot.

Any comments about the link that dave has just posted?

Should people using the baby monitoring service in dave's link be prosecuted for neglect?

And I have posted before, that this (leaving children alone in this way) would indeed have been looked at in the UK -I worked as a Child Care Officer and both Local Authorities that I worked for would have investigated if they had been informed of such young children being left alone.   Indeed I had three sisters in care who had been removed in very similar circumstances.

As to the Pontins / Butlins situation, I cannot comment as I never had a family I was working with who did this.  Also attitudes change over years.  But to state that "the McCanns would not have been prosecuted for leaving their children" - that is a dicey one.  They may not have been prosecuted but they might well have been involved with Social Services in other ways - parenting classes, Child Protection Register etc, prosecution being very much a last resort.  But would they have been investigated if this had happened in the UK? - I am pretty sure the answer is "yes"

And as I have also said before: the reason is not the very rare occurrence of abduction, but the much more common occurrence of accidents in the home - especially in an apartment where the floors would have been made of stone

Now where does is it say parents should leave their children in unlocked accommodation for prolonged periods whilst they wine and dine ?
