The only abduction that I know of in the Algarve since 2007 was that of a Portuguese father taking his daughter from her Irish mother. And they found her hidden by the father's family in Madeira.

I think you're right Carana  It's been a while since I last watched it. Wouldn't they be required to talk with the people involved though so the actors knew what to say and do?

Somehow I doubt that they are really seeking witnesses to place Jez, Jane and Gerry towards one side of the road or the other 6 years later.

If they were being thorough it's a glaring uncertainty from the McCanns' own documentary that could do with being resolved.  Some people may be prepared to just brush it off as irrelevant, others find it a lot more significant. That an investigating force would find such a crucial thing as establishing the credibility and location of a (possibly the only) eyewitness unnecessary would seem a little haphazard.

How do you suggest that that could be resolved? Calling for witnesses 6 years later as to whether one, two or three people were standing in the middle of the road, to one side or the other, up 2 metres, down 2 metres?

CCTV would have resolved it, but there wasn't any there.

I'm pretty sure they all remember something as crucial as where they were standing and talking. After all, they have the statements to work from to help them out too

It's the 2nd or 3rd one down. It's not about abductions it's kidnappings so isn't really very relevant in this context.
