So who are the other victims?   I have never ever heard of a paedo ring who only ever abducted one child.  8(0(*

There is normally other evidence, photo, video, audio, clothes purchases, online communications etc. To imply that a 'ring' is involved also implies that a 'ring' has been discovered. A 'ring' being two or more people who share information, pictures or individuals.

It could just be one sex offender who has accomplices  that help him/her to procure material but take no part in using that material.

The truth is the press love to use the phrase 'ring' because it is a highly visual word - it brings up all sorts of images of seedy underworld shenanigans.

I did work with sex offenders for about a year and the public image of them is so inaccurate it is laughable.

To all the conspiracy theorists who think this latest piece of news was orchestrated by Clarence Mitchell, you might want to have a look at the following link:

http://content.met.police.uk/News/Update-on-the-investigation-into-the-disappearance-of-Madeleine-McCann/1400020366124/1257246741786

The Met organised a briefing last night to announce the latest developments, which is why it's in the papers today.
There's no conspiracy theorist on this forum.

Its normal to be cynical after all the rubbish printed over six years.....I dont respect any press report these days unless it prints facts and most journalists are utterly incapable of doing so, Im sure most of them left school with no qualifications whatsoever

targetting dead paedos is utterly pathetic as there has never been any evidence whatsoever of their  involvement in is case.....

Dead paedos may be the ones that they are close to conclusively eliminating from their list. If international cooperation is working well, even if these dead ones had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance, this investigation could always bring to light information as to whether they may have been involved - or not - in other unresolved cases.

Shall we stick to one thing at a time? Im sure SYs remit is not to consider other cases when any info is up tut

Just pray no one is made a patsy this leadership  has form for it!!!! And how disgusting was that!

I expect that if they arrest anyone other than the McCanns, no matter the evidence, no matter if there is a conviction, the conspiracy theorists on here will still be saying it's a patsy.

I never said that it was part of its remit - it clearly isn't. But there is always a possibility that cooperation might help other forces to solve their own crimes.

Because they have come up with nothing after spending millions. Literally a couple of 'persons of interest'. When you don't know what happened everyone in the area is a 'person of interest'. So they have identified three new people who happened to be there at the time (perhaps). Hardly stellar IMO

The investigation is at a dead end and going nowhere. Hence the need for tabloid coverage and TV shows. If they had anything of any value they would be investigating it but instead they are getting ready for crimewatch? Hardly stellar IMO.

They advertise to the world what they are doing via the media. IF they had anything of any worth then they would be investigating it - not doing the rounds of breakfast TV et al. Hardly stellar IMO

It has taken them 2 years to look at a bunch of 6 year old phone records. Wtf? What do they really expect to get from that? Oh this phone was in Porto and now it's in Germany but the owner is English - Maddie might be in Germany! Good police work? Hardly my friend the 'evidence' is so old now it is useless. Hardly stellar IMO

Perhaps you could tell me what is so darn GOOD about their investigation? What have they achieved in 2 years? How much further forward is the nation is learning the young girls fate?

That's the rub. After 2,5 years reviewing the work of  PJ + UK police officers, they have not yet finished to analyse the files but include in their investigation two dead men and will desperately attempt to make a reconstruction ! This is surrealistic. What will the taxpayers finally say ?

Oh I dunno. I'm no fan of the McCann clan however if someone is found guilty in a court of law for Madeline's disappearance  I'd like to think I'm mature enough to admit to my mistake.

I didn't have you down as one of the conspiracy theorists in any event. I assumed you were on the fence.

I'm not totally convinced either way to be honest, but I do hold some serious concerns regarding the parents behaviour over the years.

I used to think 'time will tell' but more and more I'm believing that we will never see closure in this case.

They probably at least unconsciously know it didn't happen.

I'm sure you're right Anne.

I still don't see the problem.

We don't even know if they are the people on the verge of being eliminated.

We don't yet know what the reconstruction will seek to highlight.

I'm sure we'll find out in due course.

I find it great to see that some of these initiatives are getting more attention.
