Puzzling things the McCanns have said.
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:45:26 PM »
Gerry McCann has said some rather odd things, here is just one,

"Everything we have done in the last 100 days is focused on the belief that she was alive when she was taken".

The bizarre alternative being that someone went into the apartment & killed her before abducting her corpse.

Anyone have any other odd McCann statements?

Paraphrasing: Finding Madeleine missing was comparable to finding that you have an overdraft on your student loan.

I know there are more,
something about having a fundraiser on the 1st anniversary of her dissapearance, when she had only been gone a few months.
seems he was quite sure she would not be coming back before then????

How about Gerry using the distinctive mark in her eye, despite the fact that it could put Madeleine's life in danger, because it was a good marketing ploy. This was in his "Vanity Fair" interview.

Expresso Interview

Gerry – "In a way, we would like to have been accused so we could defend ourselves openly. Now, reading the process, there is no evidence that justifies the suspicion, apart from the dogs' action. There was never a sustained explanation. And the questioning: 'What happened to Madeleine? How did you get rid of her? Who helped you? Where did you put her?' All fantasy! If they had found DNA – so what? And if Madeleine had hurt herself inside the apartment – why would that be our fault?

Perhaps someone could produce an anthology of the sayings of Gerald McCann. I'm sure they've all been documented and live somewhere on the internet.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

Please don't make me defend Dr G!

From what I recall it was something like, "You know what its like, when your as a student and you go overdrawn, there's just nothing left, nothing left to draw on, emotionally we were in the red, but we still had to carry on"

Again paraphrasing, but I'm pretty sure that was the context.

If I were you guys, I'd link to the original quotes or you'll just be slated.

Kate McCann to Sara Antunes de Oliveira, SIC, 9 March, 2010):

"We're not going to sit here and lie and be totally naïve and say she's one hundred per cent alive."

They are very good at twisting,  or only saying part of a paragraph.

I am a major McCann doubter, but the above is not correct. Gerry McCann was speaking about feeling emotionally drained, having nothing left and compared that feeling to going to your bank and finding that there was nothing in your account.

many on here like to twist words don't you know

Rachel Manpilly, Rogatory Statement.

1578 'Okay. Did you want to mention something about Doctors in the group''

Reply 'Yeah I was just going to say that, you know Kate and Gerry are both Doctors and you know there were three other medics in the group, erm four others actually sorry, four others, erm you know so if by any chance they'd accidentally done anything to Madeleine or she was ill or erm you know something wasn't quite right, I mean they wouldn't have just left her and sort of tried to cover it up as an accident or you know, they would of sort of you know, come and got Matt and Russell and Dave and Fi, erm I mean you know, not just because they are Doctors, because you know they're parents and you'd kind of go to anyone to see who could help but if you've got, you know Doctors as friends who were there as well, erm you know there were kind of six people there who if Madeleine had accidentally been bumped on the head or you know whatever the theories are supposed to be, erm you know, there were plenty of people there who could of you know, tried to revive a child, erm'.
