Nothing of that kind has yet been concluded. It might happen though (let's hope that the second time they'll be offered to prove their innocence they'll take the chance), but take care not to cling to a delusion yourself.

In civilised society no-one is required to prove their innocence.   We follow the 'Innocent until proved guilty' principle.

Even Amaral's mate from Viseu, Claudia and FSoares from the Ministry of Justice in Lisbon are telling us his thesis has been effectively trashed by the PJ and SY announcements and that the McCanns are not suspects.

Amaral's thesis was that Madeleine died in the apartment and that her parents covered up that death and should at least be charged with covering up a death.

But now the SY team and the PJ team, having reviewed for over two years all the available evidence, have both stated categorically that the McCanns are not suspected of any crime in relation to the case.

That means that they have tossed aside the thesis of Amaral and are now at last pursuing the real culprit, the stranger who abducted her.  His theory no longer holds water.

Amaral was wrong it seems all along.

Also the PJ and SY will know the facts.  Doesn't have to be mentioned in specific statements.  But the PJ under Amaral did NOT have anything to charge Gerry or Kate with, so they knew Gerry was there.
