"Another tough date": Kate McCann's 50th birthday wish to find missing Madeleine as funding for search runs out.

The family refuse to give up hope that Madeleine McCann - who went missing in Portugal 11 years ago and would almost be 15 years old now - is still alive

The milestone 50th birthday of Kate McCann tomorrow will be tinged with sadness as funding to find her missing daughter starts to dry up, it is being reported tonight.

The haunted mother is no closer to finding out what happened to her daughter Madeleine who disappeared in Portugal while the family were on holiday 11 years ago.

Met Police assigned to Operation Grange have less than four weeks left of guaranteed funding, reports The Sun .

More funding has been applied for to pursue a 'significant final line of inquiry' but no decision has yet been made if it will be approved.

Next Sunday will be Kate's 11th Mother's Day without her missing daughter.

A pal of the family told The Sun that Kate's 50th birthday on Monday will also be a tough day.

They added: "While celebrations go on there is a always a reminder that Madeleine, who would now be a teenager, almost 15 years old, is still missing.

“Kate’s only birthday wish is to find out what happened to her eldest child and she hopes and prays that police will be granted extra funds to carry on their important work to help find her."

One of Kate's pals also told The Sun: “They’re trying to keep her buoyed up and helping her celebrate a significant birthday. It’s a few months of milestones - the twins became teenagers last month, Kate’s turning 50 and Gerry’s 50th birthday is in June."

Kate and he husband Gerry, 49, of Leicester, recently celebrated their twin children turning 13 and said prayers for Madeleine.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were dining with pals in a nearby tapas restaurant.

Kate and Gerry have never given up hope that their daughter could still be found alive. She would now be aged 14, nearly 15.

In February the Daily Mirror revealed the Kate and Gerry McCann have raised £728,508 through a 'Find Maddie Fund' which could be used to fund private investigators.

Whenever I read these comments I can't help but read them as....

"The family refuse to give up...........hope that Madeleine is still alive."

Madeleine McCann’s parents 'will never give up'......... searching as they thank supporters during Christmas.

They'll never give up.

Kate McCann's 50th birthday is 'tinged with sadness' as she reaches another milestone without her Maddie... but the family hope the police will continue their search

A friend of Kate's told the Sun: 'Kate's big birthday is another tough date for her. While celebrations go on there is a always a reminder that Madeleine, who would now be a teenager, almost 15 years old, is still missing.

'Kate's only birthday wish is to find out what happened to her eldest child and she hopes and prays that police will be granted extra funds to carry on their important work to help find her.'

Kate and her husband Gerry, 49 celebrated their twins Sean and Amelie's thirteenth birthday last month with prayers for their lost daughter.

Another tough date for Kate is Mother's Day, this year will mark her 11th one without Madeline, she has previously described the day as a painful and 'a constant reminder that one of her children isn't with her.

Kate has previously said she would just like to know if Madeline is alive or dead as the not knowing is the worst part.

The Met Police search in place to find Madeleine, dubbed Operation Grange, has less than four weeks of guaranteed funding left.

No decision has been made yet on whether they will be given to 'pursue one significant final line of inquiry'.

Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: 'Kate and Gerry are extremely grateful to police for all they have done and are doing in the continued search for Madeleine .

'They are very encouraged that there remains work to be done that requires a request for an extra budget and they remain thankful to the Home Office for considering it.'

'They are very encouraged that there remains work to be done that requires a request for an extra budget and they remain thankful to the Home Office for considering it.'

The current funding of £154,000 runs out at the end of this month. It is understood cops are seeking an extra £150,000. The inquiry has already cost the taxpayer £11.2million.

A Home Office spokesperson said: 'The Metropolitan Police has made a further application for funding, which is currently being considered. A decision has not yet been made.'

A SY spokesperson said: 'The inquiry has not reached a conclusion and we're hoping to continue with focus and determination.'

The McCanns have nearly £3/4million saved in a fund to help find their daughter - giving them a lifeline if the police hunt is axed next month.

EXCLUSIVE: The hunt for Madeleine McCann CONTINUES as Home Office approves Met Police’s request for cash to pursue a ‘final line of inquiry’ 11 years after youngster vanished

The Home Office allocated an unknown amount to the Met's Operation Grange

Detectives investigating the disappearance applied for more funding in February

More than £11 million has been spent so far on the probe to find the missing girl

The hunt for Madeleine McCann will continue after the Metropolitan Police Service was granted more funds to continue the 11-year-long search.

The Home Office revealed today that it had allocated further funds to the Met's investigation to hers disappearance - Operation Grange.

A representative said: 'The Government remains committed to the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

'We have briefed the Metropolitan Police Service that its application for Special Grant funding for Operation Grange will be granted.'

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann applied for more funding for the search in February.

Government funding for the investigation has historically been agreed every six months, with £154,000 being granted from October last year until the end of March.

More than £11 million has been spent so far on the probe to find the missing girl, who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007, aged three.

The exact figure allocated for the ongoing investigation is not yet known.

Madeleine, three, vanished from an apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were eating tapas with friends at a restaurant nearby.

She would now be nearly 15.

Operation Grange has been one of the longest, most high-profile and costly police investigations in history.

Launched in May 2011, officers have sifted (and translated) 40,000 documents produced by Portuguese police who conducted the initial investigation, and by the eight teams of private detectives who have worked on the case.

Some 600 'persons of interest' have been examined and 'sightings' of Madeleine — in Brazil, India, Morocco and Paraguay, on a German plane and in a New Zealand supermarket — assessed.

The Portuguese investigation of Madeleine's disappearance was criticised by the British authorities as being not fit for purpose.

Scotland Yard began an investigative review into the disappearance in 2011, on the orders of then-Prime Minister David Cameron.

The interesting bit which puts the McCanns to shame imo..

"Mr Wang and his wife spent years searching for her in the city and surrounding areas, taking out advertisements in newspapers and setting up online appeals. The couple, who have another daughter and a son, never left Chengdu, in the hope that Qifeng would find her way back to them."

The Mccanns searched alright.  Their method was different and it was in another country, with a language they didn't speak, which made it harder.

They used a more intellectual method of searching and scored the jackpot by persuading SY to take Madeleines disappearance on board .... and in turn ... for the Portuguese PJ to open up the case again.  What could be better than that?

They have taken a back seat whilst SY and the Porto PJ special squad carry on the search, BUT are ready to take on the search again if SY and the PJ's investigation comes to a premature end, without managing to find Madeleine and the perps.

&%%6, Have the Mccanns and their supporters ever done well !    All this despite a seemingly organized vociferous group pumping out propaganda against them ... and also making every effort for the case to be closed down

Seems some people whilst protesting otherwise, want for Madeleine NOT TO BE FOUND.  I wonder why?

Searched my backside.  They walked away the minute their own culpability was being investigated, they took the cowards way out imo and then put in place a grand scheme to destroy the PJ investigators which has ultimately failed and backfired on them.
