What is Amaral going to do now ?
« on: October 26, 2013, 01:12:49 AM »
He was damning of the original probe pointing the finger at Madeleine’s parents and claimed officers under disgraced Goncalo Amaral achieved “very little” during their 15 month investigation.

He also thwarted attempts by Mr Amaral to charge the McCanns with child abandonment, leading to a souring in relations between police and prosecutors.

Mr Amaral went on to write a controversial book called ‘The Truth of the Lie’ which the McCanns are currently suing him over at an ongoing civil trial in a Lisbon court.

I should hope he damned well is.  He needs to be more than embarrassed.  It is wicked the way he and hangers on have ruined the lives of a grieving couple / family, and worse stopped the search for Madeleine.

More fiction.

Amaral never stopped the 'search' for Madeleine.

The PJ could find no evidence of abduction.

Please keep to the facts.

The facts are that the PJ and SY have found evidence of abduction, and non-involvement of the parents, which is why both institutions are now pursuing a stranger abduction scenario.

Please keep to the facts, indeed.

Please keep to the facts.

More comprehensively the PJ under Amaral could not find very much at all.

They missed the person from the Night Creche who was under their noses and whose details they either had or could have had with no trouble at all.

They missed the CCTV which may well have covered the person who the Smitths saw.

Till Rebelo took over they missed the basic police craft of checking the timing of the Smith accounts by going to Kelly's bar and asking people there and collecting the till receipts.

I could go on...

And I don't think it is an exaggeration to suggest that the search for missing Madeleine stopped as soon as that original team received the DNA results after the dog searches which they seemed to place too much belief in, which were clearly misinterpreted as proof of a death and which even Amaral tells us made them focus their resources directly on the parents who he believed were guilty of some kind of crime.

Thankfully since his tenure we have seen a full analysis of the evidence. That analysis concluded that none of the evidence pointed to the McCanns having committed any crime. And more recently after the thorough review by the Oporto team it is clear that they have concluded that Amaral's team were not looking in the right direction as they have stated that the McCanns are not suspects and seem to be looking as Scotland Yard is at stranger abduction.

Yes it is clearly Stephen25000 who has forgotten what the facts are here.

Precisely what proof is there of abduction ?

No hyperbole please.

P.S. A man holding a child in his arms does not prove abduction.

How many times do you have to be told that there is neither proof of abduction, nor proof of death. In fact there is no proof at all what happened to Madeleine McCann.  That is why there are inquiries proceeding at present. It seems quite ridiculous that you should even ask the question.

But there is clear evidence of the abduction or the PJ would not have been granted the permission to re-open the inquiry as substantial evidence was necessary for that procedure to occur.

The fact that you either cannot or will not deign to understand that simple fact is precisely what I referred to in my previous post.

The very fact that the inquiry by the Oporto team is now open with the focus on stranger abduction is proof of the existence of the evidence unless of course you are going to suggest that the Public Ministry and the Prosecutor General of Portugal are in on some kind of wild conspiracy.

And to be frank it is none of your business or mine what the evidence actually is. Under PT law it is not permitted to disclose that evidence to the public and I can fully understand that as it could clearly compromise the inquiry to do so and could even endanger the life of Madeleine, if as all decent people hope, she is still alive.

Evidence of non-involvement of the parents?  How does that work then?  Specifically?

Well specifically there is the complete lack of evidence against the McCanns as reported by the AG in the archival report.

That would be evidence in itself of the non-involvement of the parents.

No doubt the SY and Oporto teams have their own reasons for ruling out the McCanns which so far they have quite correctly not chosen to make clear to the general public.

If there is no evidence of abduction, why in a post last night did you refer to the 'abduction' ?

As to endangering the life of Madeleine, what sense is there in both SY and the PJ saying they are investigating certain people ?

If she was alive, then that would be the height of rank stupidity.
