The thing that struck me as most bizarre about Clarence Mitchell's involvement was that he resigned his government job to work for the McCanns instead

He LEFT  a highly paid job,   that carried huge perks,  terrific expense allowances, great prospects for the future,  and an most enviable pension package

...  and he did that ...  he left all that  (  despite having a young family of his own to look out for  )  to work full time for the McCanns

As far as he knew,   Madeleine could have been found within days of him throwing away his career  ...  couldn't she  ?

It makes no sense for him to have done that
Some powerful ones had engaged their credibility in this case, it needed some control, not an official one.

Let's look at what happened.

He was seconded from the public sector where he had built up experience and a reputation.

There is more money to be made from PR in the Private Sector.

He chose his moment to jump

He has increased his salary and pension package considerably with Freud etc.

He is now able to pursue a career as a Politician which would have conflicted with his public sector employment.

He seems to have done very well out of it financially, careerwise and personally as he is now one of the most prominent people in PR in the UK and a political candidate for a winnable seat.

Or you are free to cling to paranoid delusions instead of a rational answer.

No one had ever heard of Clarence Mitchell before this case.  Now, every one knows who he is

He took a chance to help The McCanns because he believed that they were innocent.  And a very good job he did too.  The McCanns needed someone because they could not have handled this alone.  No one could.

This to me is a measure of what a very good MP he will make.  He is an honest man who will fight for his constituents.

You might be right, of course  ...  perhaps Michell had a plan in mind all  along

He did say,  when resigning as Head of the Media moderating unit at The Cabinet Office  ... " I am prepared to forego my career in government service to help them"   ...  but the way you put it certainly does suggest the move may have been  more mercenary than altruistic

He wouldn't be the first to have cashed in on Madeleine, afterall

Not sure if he will make a good MP, but I'm sure he'll feel right at home there, if he manages to get elected.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

OG have been pushed out by the Germans who have reserved all the deck chairs for the foreseeable future

He was a well known BBC 24 Newsreader.

Well I had never heard of him, although I suppose I should have done, seeing as how he's a relative of mine.

Eleanor, you never fail to surprise me

He has the same clear thinking brain and expresses himself so well, as you do

Give him a big hug from me if you see him.  He has taken a huge amount of unecessary flak.  And taken it graciously.

What a support he has been to the Mccanns in their time of need!  Well done Clarrie  8@??)(

Is there anyone who isn't personally acquainted with with the Mccanns or their inner circle who support them unconditionally?

He's slightly better at keeping his temper than I am, Sadie.

I think you will find that Eleanor is the exception. I worked with many Pros early on and not one of them had any connection to the McCanns- all had a commitment to Justice being done and the laws being adhered to.

Well I'm proud of him, okay.  Even if I didn't know him before.  And I don't know The McCanns either.

Me.

Most of us, maybe all of us pros, I believe.

I support, but I dont support unconditionally.  If I could find any facts that made me think they "dunit" then my support would be very considerably reduced, as you might guess..

In actual fact, I think they have served a big sentence for something they haven't done.
And you guys perpetrating the myths are just causing more misery for them.

Why dont you leave them alone?
