Yes, Dr's are just as capable as us mere mortals of being despicable human beings....

Thank you for pointing that out davel, a very helpful reminder for 'people like me' who just blindly trust professionals.

Anyone is capable of being a pedophile. This thing about doctors its though they are GODS or something....they are humans under huge stress....stress can trigger off many things...

I would never trust ANYONE with my children not nowadays anyway.

Oh yeh Shipman comes to  mind lol.........

I don't need to. The question was answered by pretrial examination in American courtrooms: alerts are scientific, at least according to Florida and Michigan. If they weren't the evidence would never be allowed in trials.

Courts do not validate science; scientists do. British courts accepted the pseudo science about cot deaths an was proved wrong.

Could you explicit this ?
I'm thinking of Dr Southall, the MSP "expert".

Does Ms Duarte exercise that much influence over the decision-making of the Portuguese authorities?
It has nothing to do with decision making.
If your lawyer tells that your action's value is XXX, he better makes sure that the opponent will have those XXX in case you win the action, don't you think ?

The pseudo-science in respect of cot death was Roy Meadow's

It ran like this.  He took instances of cot death in the community (something like 1 in 7000) and squared that number to arrive at "odds" of the same happening twice.

Three times would be the number cubed and that was "murder".

His most widely publicised blunder was that he overlooked the possibility that genetic/hereditary or environmental influences might actually shorten, not lengthen, odds of the same thing happening twice.

His worse blunder was straightforward misapplication of maths.

The culpable homicide of an infant by a parent is one, rare and independent, event.

And the unexpected death of an infant from unexplained natural causes is a second, rare and independent, event.

There is no correlation between the two.

No attempt should be made to correlate them.

What do you mean by "criminal" conviction ? Do you know the terminology used in penal courts in Portugal ?

This is an English speaking forum and I am sure" criminal" is the correct word to describe his conviction

Eddie alerted to cadaver scent. That scent was coming out from the car door that's why he was chasing around with his nose in the air between the two cars in the car park until he found the source of it and then he barked. He didn't alert anywhere else. Murat's or the other apartments.

So you are stating that  it was actually established that there was a Cadaver scent coming out of the car door and that this is in Mr Grimes report ?

No it wasnt, from Grime's report specifically referring to the car......

"It is my view that it is possible that the EVRD is alerting to 'cadaver scent'
contaminant or human blood scent."

Im glad I looked that up as it confirms that Mr Grime did not include blood as *cadaver scent contaminant*

But from his other statements it is also possible that Eddie was reacting to blood or nothing at all.

'Possible' does not exclude other possibilities.

Because in Portugal those that are "protected" can only be convicted if there is a 100% certainty in the evidences presented, which was not the case with the FSS forensics, after they messed it all up. No judge would prosecute a case were there was so much biased/messed/adulterated information from the UK. The obvious intention from UK to keep those people out of trouble was too obvious from the start, why begin a diplomatic war when it was obvious the Brits could live with it? From the get go Madeleine was never a worry for parents, family, friends or authorities in the United Kingdom, only the pair Kate and Gerald mattered.

Dr Southall is a pioneer in discoveries about adults who harm their children, the problem is that it has turned an obsession. He accused horribly Sally Clark and Mandy Morris, among others.

Are we back to suspicion that Mr Grime (whose unique credit was his dogs' accuracy) was (unconsciously perhaps) corruptible ?

Not corruptible, merely unconsciously communicative as all humans are.
