In prisons, people who have committed crimes are kept away from the general population, as even criminals have standards. A rapist may also steal, but even murderers revile paedophiles.
Yes, criminals have their code of honour as well, as shown in the Mafia practices.
Al Capone was so horrified by the Lindbergh baby (alleged) abduction that he offered 5 thousands dollars (a fifth of the ransom) ! A good opportunity to look a bit like a saint..

No one has said that these burglars are paedophiles.  Just burglars stealing a child for a large amount of money.

I don't understand the desperation to poo hoo this idea.

The police are just following up lines of enquiries

If there were 3 dodgy people around at the time then they need to be spoken to
If the people know it's them they should come forward .

While I do not think that burglars would have stolen Madeleine it is possible that petty thieves operating in the area might lead to some clues as to what happened. They may have knowingly or otherwise been involved in some aspect of Madeleine's disappearance.

And I agree that a criminal would not necessarily stop at one particular type of crime. That goes for petty criminals and more sophisticated criminals who might be protected by the State, for whatever reason.

But to return to the issue of Kate wanting us to believe that Jane Tanner's 'sighting' (which I believe to be fictitious) was similar to that of the Smiths. This is an absurd suggestion. Why? Well, apart from the fact that the descriptions are not that similar and the man held the child in a very different way, there is the little issue of a 45 minute gap.

I mean what abductor worth his salt wanders around a tiny resort holding the abducted child for a minimum of 45 minutes? I mean, that it just nuts....what happened, did the abductor lose his spectacles and get lost, did the get-away car get stuck in mud....did he want to get caught? It's just such a stupid suggestion.

I suppose the Smith sighting was more than a little inconvenient for the McCanns.....so they attempted to merge it together with Jane Tanner's mystery bogey-man.

It's all become more than ridiculous - a right royal McMess with McMurdoch, McMitchell and Farter Cuck looking increasingly demented

Madeleine, RIP.

Supposing the burglars were working for someone body else or working for another gang?     What if they were roped in to abduct  Madeleine as they had ways of getting into the apartment?
That's what I have wondered.   In fact I think that is the most likely scenario.

Is someone aware of this gang and used them for his own purposes.  Maybe he has something that he can blackmail them with?

Only thoughts, but feasible, imo

Does anyone agree that the flat looked like everyone was out?

What if it did  ?

Do you think that made it a  'stand out'  in some way  ?

Do you think that every other apartment  was  aglow  with light at that time of night  ?  ... that lively conversation   was floating through the air from all other apartments   indicating that someone was inside ... and the McCanns' apartment,  uniquely,  'looked like everyone was out'  ?
