Is it plausible he could have suffocated her by putting his hand over her mouth whilst outside the window? Is that in any way possible?

It is hard to imagine any kind of struggle taking place with him outside and her inside, unless he was very strong and swift. Could it happen?

You would go straight out the door rather than trying to squeeze past cots and then open the window. It's nonsense to even think about doing all that crap in the dark - noisy shutters lol. When you can go straight out the door in a flash.

But what if he had to open that window? If he was there waiting for someone to pass Madeleine and the one he was waiting for was not turning up? The patio door wasn't the safe exit if he was to carry Madeline out?do
And same time he had to check whether someone was turning up on the front doors?

I think opening of the window was a desperate act of someone who was frustrated waiting in the childrens room..

If he had accidentally killed her, this was most possibly while he was in the room and trying to make her silent.

Wouldn't use the patio door to exit. Would be straight out front door. No need to waste time with window risk of leaving evidence. In apartment open door collect Madeleine out through door. Other person could be watching at door. Window was wide open. Front door was back more hidden.
