I simply do not understand how anyone could still think that The McCanns are guilty.

There's simply no evidence for it whatsoever, is there?

If Scotland Yard and the PJ find something to suggest abduction, what y'all gonna say then?!

I think something rather stronger than 'suggest' is required. How about irrefutable evidence?

So what's the idea that Kate would accept a lesser charge? Isn't that  a plea bargain?

Officially, that's not an option in PT.

However, if the police had had a loooongggg chat with your lawyer and persuaded him to advise that you might be better off admitting that your child had died of an accident and you'd concealed the body to avoid a potentially murder conviction in a foreign country, and your hubby could go home with your two remaining children... and you'd get off with a fine (according to AnneG) or a short sentence, what would you call that?

No evidence that I've ever been able to find.  Quite the opposite in fact.

If she had caved in to pressure, as some may do in worse interrogation circumstances, it wouldn't have worked anyway. Could she have acted alone? If not, who else was involved? Where was the body? Gerry would never have been free to go home to carry on the search for Madeleine or to get Kate out of jail. That seems silly. By that time, they may well have been aware of Joana's unexplained disappearance and what happened to her mother and uncle (irrespective of whether one or both of those were guilty in that case or not).

Does their lawyer confirm that story?

I'm turning into Jeremy Paxman 8)-)))

8((()*/ Shift that crisis management in September back to May and you understand why people were so suspicious in 2007.

If you had an international problem falling on your head, you would have had no choice but to hire people to deal with it for you.

Yes, hope that whatever they come up with is conclusive  - otherwise it's round and round the garden.

I think most people wouldn't have known where to start, so wouldn't have gone down that line, particularly not with ex-government spokespersons.

A problem is that the "scientific police" didn't check the entire apartment, as far as I can tell and lost the trace of hairs from her bed. They quickly checked the route of a possible abductor (more or less), but not the parents' bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, wardrobes, etc.

The lawyer hasn't denied it and if the account had been distorted, he could potentially have sued for criminal libel. As far as I'm aware, he hasn't. Doesn't he still represent one or the other of them?

Sorry, but how is leaving your three babies on their own and one disappearing become an international problem rather than a plainly personal one?

Aside from neighbours, helpfully having a ciggie on a balcony with smartphones set on camera mode capturing images of someone stuffing a young blonde child who could be positively identified as being her to the exclusion of any other into the boot of a car and had taken down the description of the car and the license plate, complete with cctv images to corroborate, and who could not possibly be connected to anyone the T9 would have known... What would you consider to be irrefutable evidence?
