For the short drive from cafe to garage even if there was a PJ driver it would be easy to put on some of those forensic gloves would greatly reduce the (theoretical) possibility of scent transfer hand to keycard.

For example, there is forensic evidence that Gerry drove the car.

But that is "discredited" in the sense that it tells us nothing about Madeleine's fate; also in the sense the alert (to Gerry's blood) was, at one point, wrongly interpreted as indicative of the scent of Madeleine's deceased remains.
