Anyhow the scent in the boot was not human. Why would they put the frozen body in the boot and wait until it unfroze and started decaying ?

I have watched the portuguese version and the english version.
The portuguese audio I find difficult to understand but I can read portuguese ok with a dictionary
BTW I would appreciate an expert to transcribe a few words of portuguese audio of this documentary into portuguese writing.

Based on but not a reproduction. He'd be incapable of writing a book without any personal interpretation, as would K McCann and any writer. It's impossible.

There is nothing in the files to support that claim - therefore his claim that everything he purports can be confirmed in the files is clearly not true.

I give you three examples: remember the denunciation that was made against David Payne in England on the 16th of May 2007; remember the statement from a lawyer that lives in Luz, who said she saw the boot of the car that was rented by the McCanns, where cadaver odour had been detected, open night after night. IMO a more logical retort, by those who think Mr Amaral wrong, would be to say yes this lady neighbour obviously exists and did see the car boot open many times, but that is likely to be because while at that villa multiple trips were made to take away garden green waste, and that explains the open boot.
I have transported bags of garden waste in cars, and if the bags have been sitting a few days in summer before taking to the recycling centre, the grass especially starts to react into compost in the bags, and does make the car smelly.

IMO, without taking sides, (and this applies even to those who take the viewpoint that Eddie's signal of the driver door-seal and of the key as 100% directly relevant), it is important to see that additionally there are also 4 other logical causes for airing the car (household rubbish, green waste, leaky supermarket packaging, drying out after cleaning).

I can't remember having to air my car. Tied up plastic bags don't let smell escape.
I read the police was looking for a baby, they brought cadaver dogs on a property and those dogs alerted in some part of the house, but the police found nothing there. They took the dogs in the garden and the dogs didn't react anywhere. There was a little cabin for tools, full up to the roof with all sorts of rubbish. A police officer saw a bag, opened it and... horrible. But the (many) bags were very well tied up, the dogs were cheated.

That's where the interpretation comes in. Of course he has favoured ideas, but it's interesting to compare the two books: there really is nothing of great pertinence in K McCann's book that isn't mentioned in Amaral's. Both are interpreting.

As times passes without a resolution the objection to Mr Amaral's book will appear more and more curious (because it doesn't actually say all that much). The film is a different beast of course.
