It is now being suggested in some Portuguese media reports that the latest developments in Praia da Luz are politically driven and are basically a compete waste of time and money.

Is there a point where a line has to be drawn?

How much is too much when it comes to searching for a missing child?

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

this may break certain doubters' hearts but according to Len Port of The Portugal Press, the PJ consider digging up PdL a "waste of time".

Is that rather like spending money searching for someone who is no longer alive ?

You've been spending too much time orbiting the Sun, in the fashion of your hero. 8((()*/

The Star and The Sun were reporting the same thing a couple of days ago.
Yes, and yet some doubters seem convinced that SY's current action completely vindicates Amaral's 'thesis' and it's time to start tick-tocking again.  Odd that the PJ don't seem to agree...

You don't approve of money being spent looking for missing people if they may be dead then?

So where and when do you draw the limit ?

Are all police cases open-ended ?

Do you believe all missing people should have the money spent on them this case has so far ?

,or are you single minded and one-dimensional; in thinking only this case deserves money being spent on it ?  8)-)))

Answering a question with a question, or in your case numerous questions - I get told off for doing that.
Yes, let's set a limit of £1 million pounds per missing person shall we? Then, no matter how close we are to finding them, or how much progress we've made towards that end, once the million is spent, that's it, shutters down.  Does that seem reasonable? Or perhaps £10 million would be more acceptable to you?  What do you think?

So Mr. Jones, what has been found in this case after now more than seven years ?

Well you know the answer as well as I do.

I notice you didn't answer my most pertinent question.

Have you and people like you put Madeleine above all other missing people.

In simple statistical terms, this country hasn't got the money to search for all missing people and we both know that.

Let's say for example they are, by some estimates, 100,000 people missing in the UK at any given time. Multiply that by 1,000,000 and what do we get Mr. Jones ?

Well I wouldn't know about that it is only what the red top press say.
Lyndon Johnson had the best ever comment on the press. "If I walk over the waters of The Potomac the press will print "The President can't swim".
May be one day we will have the full SP. Then maybe one day we will not. Who knows?

not knowing doesnt stop the speculation and accusations re the mccanns...in fact it fuels it

Is the Portugal Resident a red-top?  Isn't the author of that piece a known "sceptic"?

Fine. Tell me at what point they should have closed down the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance on the grounds of cost.  Clearly the expense of it upsets you more than the fact that there is a child who needs finding and perpetrator(s) out there who need bringing to justice.  So, tell us how much the police should spend per missing person.
