Mrs Fenn did not give her statement till 20th August, translation by Ines. How extraordinary that she was not interviewed immediately as a close neighbour ??

I expect that The PJ knew she had been burgled.   On the other hand, perhaps they didn't.  Who can tell?

I don't think Mrs Fenn could have made herself much clearer ... at the time the newspapers were full of lurid tales and she certainly disowned the "rubbish" being printed.
What a feisty lady she was.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

There is a possibility that crying was heard elsewhere and there was confusion. Was her friend interviewed( she phoned on 1st)
IIRC Kate said she was home that night before the reported crying.

Exactly, Brietta.
That's why I don't believe Mrs Fenn made any such statement, re Madeliene crying to anyone.

Her nieces statement to the PJ was full of errors as she pointed out to Leicester police.

I read somewhere that Mrs Fenn thought the crying she heard on the 3rd May after 10.30 pm was a child, until she realised it was Kate. I'll try and find it.

I found reading that interview very informative.  I think it was text book technique, not only in the patience in getting answers, but in getting the correct answers, with the realisation gradually dawning on the interviewee where she was going wrong.  Classic!

I've never spoken to a journalist! What has this got to do with her police statement?
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

How strange/ I think "phoned him" should be "Spoken to him" But it is plural "women" and "they

Rm was in the apartment area 4th helping police, maybe she forgot to incude it in her statement.
There is a video that I put on here(somewhere) where Mrs fenn says that the papers were all talking rubbish too

Original portuguese
"umas senhoras estrangeiros ... lhe havium telefonado"

Translation
"some foreign women (plural) had telephoned him (RM)".

Yes, but the message was conveyed via telephone and if someone said that somebody had spoken to him regarding the crying, the GNR may have understood it as if Someone had phoned RM , Who knows?

On first-floor walkway, first shuttered window she walks past is of 5H, second shuttered window she walks past is of a bedroom of her apartment 5G, this is the only window accessible for entry and exit in the Apr 26th interrupted burglary (because all other windows of 5G are are inaccessible).

So why do you think all these reporters wanted to talk to her, unless it was about the only thing of interest in her statement: The child crying (obviously leaked). What else could she be calling "Rubbish"?

Re 5G bedroom window in video above:
We can see that the shutter of this window is of exactly the same make and model as the shutter on 5A bedroom window. Therefore we know that this shutter, like the 5A bedroom shutter, has no means to lock the shutter down. So this shutter, like 5A bedroom shutter, can be lifted from the outside.

I believe that entry on Apr 26th was through this window.

Next to find a photo of the accessible window of 5L - I predict the shutter will be same make and model (and therefore liftable from the outside).

We have much to thank you for.

You are extremely thorough, Pegasis, which we are all grateful for.
Mrs Fenn and the police seem to think the burglar had a key as there is no sign of a break in( same as 5A), but if he did go in through the door, he must have opened the window in readiness for an escape, or I'm sure that Mrs F would have caught him.
She looked to move fairly well in the video.
I think it very sad that a lady of her years was hounded by the press.
