This is something that I don't understand.  How could a Chief Inspector, charged with Perjury in the case of a missing child, be allowed to front a case of another missing child?
And that was his act to discredit himself that we were aware of, although not for some considerable time.  There have been many more since.

And now we have his accusations against MI5.  This should be laughable.  Not only was he out of his depth, he also appears to be suffering from paranoia.

He was found guilty of swearing that his officers version of the cause of the injuries was true when he didn't have any proof of it.

I don't think MI5 are covering for the McCanns- or are involved in concealment of evidence to 'protect them'.

They may or may not have Satelite images and may not want to disclose that information for various reasons.

They won't tell us because....wait for it... Secret Service!

I also do not believe that the government is involved with a conspiracy to protect the McCann's- although I am aware of the 'input' by Rebekah Brooks, and the financial remuneration for her employers.

She put a lot of pressure on the Prime Ministers- and gave the McCanns the celebrity status they so enjoy today!

How long was Leonor Cipriano held at the police station while being beaten black and blue, and supposedly falling down stairs?  All with out a sound of distress?
Where was Goncalo Amaral  when all of this was going on?

I simply do not believe that he knew nothing about it.

The man is a liar as well as a fantasist.  Although I suspect that his allusions to MI5 will forever be his get out defence when he loses.  His small circle of fans will also believe that Goncalo Amaral was set up by MI5.

'The man is a liar as well as a fantasist'

I think it was proved to the satisfaction of the Portuguese courts
Once at trial and once at appeal.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

When and where ?

and when it comes to fantasies, we've had one for over seven years.

Actually we have had more than one.

Dr Amaral keeps pulling a new one every so often, just like pulling rabbits out of a hat.  Can hardly wait for the next one.

Nah, the biggest fantasy is the abduction.

Thank you.

So it seems she was at the police station for approximately 24 hours, and it was a weekday.  So where was Goncalo Amaral?

Amaral did a superb job of discrediting himself by his own actions which have subsequently been revealed in both the civil and criminal courts.  Had any cop in the UK been convicted in such a manner he would be out the door before the ink was dry on the judges notepad.

Absolutely. Great post. The only surprising thing about Amaral is that there are still a few people around who support him and his crackpot theories.

As it stands, what is the status of Madeleine's disappearance in Portugal ?

Missing person whereabouts unknown.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.
