Yvonne Martin was and still remains a disgrace.  On day one when she knew sweet feck all about anything.
I am appalled by the fact that she should so quickly have decided.
This fuelled much of what was said later.

Who the hell did she think she bloody was?

Taking advantage of the information that she had heard on the news, she began questioning the couple about how often they had checked on the children, obtaining the reply that people would go to see them every hour.

Cheeky barsteward

As is normal and routine in her service, she asked whether Gerry was the biological father of the missing child, to which he replied yes.

She was only trying to help.

That's why they didn't want her there.

As PF already pointed out.

He said something along the lines of there being Paedophile gangs in Portugal and that they had abducted Madeleine.

Gerry knew, apparently, that a gang of Portuguese paedophiles, no less, had abducted Madeleine.

And yet, when a woman from Child Protection turns up to help, they get rid of her.....

Absolutely nothing suspicious about that is there.

Yes, she was keen to help them find Madeleine, they didn't want to.

Nor did they want her asking all those pesky unhelpful & hurtful questions.

Look now, I am bailing out now, because I have had far too much to say already.

The opinions are all yours..  And I don't really approve of Moderators having opinions anyway.  But I just get a bit carried away sometimes.

Most of the threads have been really good this last couple of days, and I am really pleased about that.

This Forum is a good place to be.  Proud of that, I am.  If I have had anything to do with it.

It wasn't her place to ask ANY questions. Funny she told them to keep silent, innit!

Meanwhile a fourth individual came towards the group and identified himself as a journalist. The witness alerted the couple to the type of statements they should give and that it would be better for them to keep silent.

shouldn't she have been arrested for interfering with an official police investigation

Says who?

Whether or not she would get a reply is another matter.

Yes she should have, what she did was technically illegal after all.

Couple of relevant posts from other thread.

I don't think Yvonne Martin had anything  to offer in the way of  'help'  to the McCanns that day ...  she was being an officious busy-body in my opinion

Before Social workers are allocated work assignments,  case-conferences are held where all known information  ( usually from multiple sources  )   is reveiwed and discussed

This woman just stormed in ...  with no knowledge of the family or circumstances, and, more importantly,  no official or sanctioned remit

I don't blame the McCanns at all for sending her off with a flea in her ear

She was out of order to impose herself on a family in that situation,  I think     ( without relevant information or remit  )

Social Work  isn't an emergency service  ...  it's not like a doctor,  or nurse, or fireman, stepping up to the plate in desperate circumstances

She had no business interfering

“And yet, when a woman from Child Protection turns up to help, they get rid of her.....”

Let’s look at that statement.

She … turned up … unannounced and uninvited … and immediately on arrival started asking intrusive questions of the victims while they were standing in the street.  She then tried to steer the distraught mother to a place where she could interrogate her on her own.

What on earth???

A child protection worker was she?
Madeleine was missing … but the twins were not; yet no offer of help with them or even an enquiry of how they were or where they were.

She wanted a ringside seat where the action was taking place, not behind the scenes making sure that the severely traumatised friends were supported with their own children and the twins.

If the Drs McCann had been known to social services and she was their caseworker she had a locus;  as neither was the case her actions in pushing herself forward were intrusive and unprofessional.  She had no more right to be there than any other holidaymaker and her lack of concern for the other children in the party is indicative of that.

That she was also vindictive can be ascertained by the anonymous letter she wrote to implicate the friend who had intervened to prevent her … a total stranger … from insisting that an unwilling Dr McCann should accompany her to a private place.

Not on! … and again an illustration of the total disregard this woman had for professional practice.  If she had any qualms whatsoever about anyone … there are official channels that anyone with her alleged 25years professional experience should have known about and ought to have accessed to address her so called concerns.

Writing an anonymous letter does not cut the mustard.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

As in a private investigation on PT soil? LOL

On a more serious note, I find it feasible that she probably reacted on the spur of the moment in good faith, but intervened in an insensitive way at a delicate moment. She was apparently connected to child protection work in the UK, but turned up out of the blue, was not present in any official capacity and doesn't seem to have been a trauma counsellor.

And your thoughts on Kate telling her Madeleine had been abducted by a couple ?
Brietta posted on 10/04/2022 “But whether or not that is the reason behind the delay I am certain that Brueckner's trial is going to take place.”

Let’s count the months, shall we?

How do we know what it is alleged Dr McCann told her?
