Dunno, to be honest. I can see both sides.

On the one hand, she comes across as a noseyparker who intervened at an insensitive time.

On the other hand, any off-duty person (firefighter, medic, whoever) may have rushed to the scene of a crime / disaster out of a reflex reaction to try to help.

Whatever the motivation, her observations were taken into account and were discarded (except by Amaral & co.) End of story.

Many thanks for the welcome.   That was very kind.
I have opinions like everyone else but I keep an open mind to everything.  Until the day someone speaks or Madeline is found, no one knows for sure what really happened.  I like studying cases but I can't presume to know anything except my own thoughts/feeling on the subject.   I hope that works for this place :)

I agree that people do the right thing for the wrong reason but something about this woman's approach rubbed me wrong. See seemed to want "in."  How could the McCanns trust she wasn't sent by abductor to get close to investigation?  She could not fathom that?  Of course she would be shooed away.

Quizzing grieving people even if she had "suspicions" was not her place any more than it was to march to front desk trying to get info from reception using same approach "flashing credentials."  It was deceit by omission.

Welcome Kittcatt.

That morning, the family and close friends had had little sleep and had no idea why she was there asking what were felt to be insensitive questions at a time of total distress.

It could simply be one of those lost in communication issues.

I was afraid to answer for fear of being off topic but it would be rude not to reply.

As much as I hate to say it, it is obvious is parents are not being honest about what happened that night.
The inconsistancies are glaring.  The behavior is so beyond "normal" to me.   I don't know how to think abductor from that.  I feel they tried to point things to a certain scenerio which to me says staging.

IMO, the inconsistancies cannot be merely from alcohol to confusion.  Sadly, that points me to think they know far more than they are telling.  If your child is missing every details can mean something.  Honesty, not defensiveness, should be above all most important if you want your child found.  No, it is not ok to hide details to save own skin.   If they are not not being 100 percent forthcoming, they are not doing everything to find their child.  I will let that comment stand to interpretation to what that means to me.

I do not buy they "didn't know the area well enough to pull this off" nor do I buy "there wasn't time."  I will go into my reasons in other threads I imagine.

Why do you hate to say it ?
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

I don't want to be sued lol.
Seriously, I hate the fact they led to me to feel by their own words and actions that they were involved.

I want to be able to give benefit of doubt.  I want to believe them.  I just can't see how this abductor theory is supposed to work.  I suppose it makes me sad to think about parental involvement but I would be a fool not to consider the statistics on that.

'They are parents whose daughter is lost.'
