Newbie here so hello to you all

My motive for joining is that like everyone else in this country my most profound fear is being convicted of something I didn't do . It's not just the fear of spending months or even years in prison but simply losing a hard earned reputation as a nice guy , someone to trust etc

The one problem I have with miscarriages of justice is that now we've entered the internet era there are countless sites where a very small handful of individuals spend far too much time on the forums constantly hijacking every single high profile case screaming " THEY'RE INNOCENT . LET THEM OUT " which does absolutely nothing except alienate any neutrals . I think you know the forums I'm talking about and they would be the last people I'd want on my side if I was doing time for a crime I didn't commit

It's nice to see so much critical thinking and taking each case on its merit on this forum

Welcome Spanny.  Any particular reason for the handle?

Critical thinking is our speciality and we have a 100% record for being correct...so far.  It's not the first guy who has come on here claiming to be a moj only to fall on his sword when the case is pulled apart.

LOL

Don't worry Mr Moderator I won't be posting anything along the lines of " Great site guys and since I'm writing on a prison computer I was wondering if you could look in to my case while I'm here " , at least for the foreseeable future and long may that continue

No reason for the nickname just that I'm led to believe you should never use you're real name for an internet forum and " Spanny " was my school nickname down to the fact I look vaguely Latin and is a contraction/deviation  of the word Spanish . Hence Spanny

Hello and welcome Spanny.  Is there a particular case or area you are interested in?

Thanks for asking John

No not really . It's just that I've noticed the prevalence of MOJ threads with this one being the most sensible . Some of the other ones however just seem to be the same small handful of people logged on to the same sites playing internet detective all day who like me have no first hand experience or being related to a MOJ case . Like I said in my initial post as an outsider the worst thing you can do is alienate any neutral opinion by screaming each and every person in jail is innocent and are part of a massive conspiracy . I don't doubt there are innocent people stiched up and Colin Stagg is a great example . If however Stagg hadn't been proved innocent and still had a cloud hanging over him if certain websites had taken his cause and pronounced him innocent I'd automatically start thinking he was guilty . I won't mention these websites but I'm pretty sure everyone knows the ones I'm talking about

We try to look at the facts from both sides but that isn't always possible.  My own view in many of the recent high profile cases is that the CPS are no longer interested in justice but have an agenda to justify their own existence...at any cost. Having watched them operate in many different settings I also find a lack of basic honesty between practitioners.  In many cases lawyers and counsel are only out to make a name for themselves and fill their pockets if possible along the way.
