Apparently the parents wanted to take him abroad for treatment.    Still,  just taking him like that I would have thought would have put a lot of stress on the little boy.

I hope they come to conclusion one way or another about his treatment,  looks as though the parents think he would be better off having the other treatment.

Don't know if the hospital can refuse what the parents want can they?

They can if there is a protection order in place ...as is often the case with Jehovas Witnesses who refuse to allow children to have blood transfusions...looks like this is what happened in this case

Well we lost our younger's daughter age 27, to a brain tumor, I can say I do not blame them for taking their child abroad.

By the time her doctor found out the problem a year had gone by, waiting six weeks to obtain her first brain scan unless she was willing to go private, they told her there was no problem, six weeks later she lost feelings on one half of her body, they rushed her for another brain scan because they lost the first result, they found out it was terminal, by then it was the size of a golf ball, they said there was nothing they could do, we took her home to die.

IMO this is all about money. The parents probably researched the case well and know where to seek better treatment. They did not accept the cost cutting 'explanations' by the NHS consultants. The NHS fears that other people would follow the same route, i.e seek the treatment in Europe.

All about money. Fulstop.

Certainly is, they refused Ashya the specialised targeted treatment purely on cost but now Southampton General is backtracking squirming and offering a second opinion.

The ACC of Hampshire Constabulary is another one who messed up and now cannot see his way to offering some sort of apology.  There was no reason to take the parents to Malaga police cells, they could have been held at the hostel or at their own holiday home just down the road while the British police got their act together.  But then again, the Guardia Civil don't do common sense when it comes to foreigners (extranjeros) so no surprises there either.

Absolutely awful Colin.  We lost our mum to cancer.  A local doctor was treating her for osteoporosis, a wholly incompetent and erroneous diagnosis.  This went on for nearly a year and in the end she was virtually bed bound and unable to go downstairs.  They decided they would then do a scan and she was taken into hospital where they pumped her with morphine, so much so she was delirious the last time I saw her.  She never did get to see the consultant, she died the next morning.  When I made a formal complaint they had the cheek to blame my mother for not reporting her symptoms in the first place.

Grandmother's anger and worry over Ashya events

The grandmother of Ashya King has spoken out about the latest developments since Ashya's parents decided to take the five-year-old out of hospital in Southampton and travel abroad.

Patricia King, mother of Brett King, said the police had "gone over the top".

Mrs King was speaking to the BBC's Ben Moore.

This case makes me cry. The feeling of injustice today for me is enormous. This poor poor family!
The policeman on Sky News -sorry it was BBC -  was stammering, while trying to find excuses.

The hearing in front of a judge will be held in Madrid later this morning.  The Kings lawyer will also attend if they have one.

They will have the extradition request read to them and asked if they agree or contest the extradition.  If they say yes they will be handed over to the British cops at the airport once the agreement is formally ratified by the Spanish Government. If they contest the extradition request they will be held in custody at Valdemoro prison just outside Madrid until a full formal request for extradition can be made.  This procedure can take many months to arrange as I myself have experienced.

I hope they are given the proper information which will allow them to agree to the extradition.  When I was in the exact same situation I was not given any information so my lawyer told me to say no.  This was illegal under the terms of the Extradition Act which rendered my own extradition illegal.  Under the Law the person sought has to have sufficient information which will allow them to make an 'informed decision' as to the consequences of their decision.

Now they are attempting to make Ashya a Ward of Court as Hampshire's police and crime commissioner seeks to defend his actions.

Commissioner defends Hampshire Police action to find Ashya King

Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner has defended police action to find Ashya King.

Simons Hayes said the police worked to safeguard the five-year-old Southsea boy who has a brain tumour.

His parents are due to appear in a Spanish court after being arrested. They face extradition proceedings while their son is being treated at Materno-Infantil Hospital in Malaga.

‘Hampshire police have done absolutely the right thing they needed to do to secure and safeguard the life of Ashya,’ he told BBC Radio Solent.

‘I think the motivation for the police was to find Ashya as quickly as possible so he could receive the treatment that the medical professionals were saying he needed.

‘A European arrest warrant is not just issued on the whim of a police officer in Hampshire.

‘The CPS have to look at the evidence presented.’

He said a district judge also looked at the evidence to issue the warrant.

Mr Hayes added: ‘Separate proceedings issued in order to make Ashya a ward of court.’

All this talk about the liquid feed that Ashya was getting or not getting and now he is getting a different one in Malaya.

Can anyone imagine the trauma that this child is enduring being ill and among strangers who are speaking a foreign language?  Preventing his family from visiting him is very cruel but this is Spain.

Extradition hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow so Mr and Mrs King will be taken to Valdemoro Prison meantime.  This prison has both male and female facilities and also houses Brit nationals.  They must be feeling absolutely grubby now considering what they have been through.  I don't believe they even have had a change of clothes or a proper wash since they were arrested, everything in Spain is left to the families to provide.
