To which particular version of the truth do you refer?

the part highlighted in red ...as its highlighted. You claim the authors are blaming the doubters for poor sales...you are making it up

Still highly respectede Faith, despite attempts to vilify them and take the "Bread and Butter" out of their mouths.

There were comments on Amason from people who hadn't even seen the book , let alone open the covers and read.   What sort of people are these lowlifes?

Pst:  The clue is in the last sentence

I hope you are referring to the 5* Pam Gurney!

If the book is as big a yawn and irrelevance as you would like to imply … why have certain people seen fit to mount an orchestrated campaign against it … somebody somewhere sure is worried about it and is using the power of the ‘pen mightier than the sword’ against it … in the realisation that it will encompass a new audience they consider haven’t been brainwashed by them yet.

Just a measure of sheer desperation and if they think they are intimidating S&S out of the equation I think they may live to rue the day; the authors have probably amassed enough materials for many years of books and articles.

'Brainwashed'  ???

I have read a small section of the book, and it comes across as a hybrid of Mills and Boon, and a P.R. special written on behalf of the mccanns.

I will pay more attention to it in due course, when time and work permit it.

Meanwhile, delude yourself as much as you like, the book is as defunct as the  dodos.  8((()*/

I think what the supporters fail to realise Stephen is that the book was a commercial enterprise, written merely to make money.  That it has failed dismally on that front makes it almost certain that Hatchete, or indeed any other publisher, will not be commissioning Summers and wife to do a follow up anytime in the future.

Not at all surprising that those ‘doubters’ who have stuck a clothespeg on their noses and have allegedly ploughed their way through the book have failed to bring any glaring anomalies to the fore for discussion.

Just the usual generalisations of snide and nasty comment which is ill informed to boot.

I think S&S will be quite content with the reaction from their publishers … and I look forward to their next book on the subject which will probably be written only when Madeleine’s case has been resolved one way or the other.

I wonder if it has crossed the minds of those criticising S&S for speaking with the parents of a missing child and the law enforcement body dealing with the active case into her disappearance that they may have been following the right and proper procedure in setting parameters which would not infringe on that investigation.

Or that people who write books for a living are going to give a tinker’s curse about the sensibilities of those parents or pass up on sensational ‘revelations’ concerning them should their research reveal any. Just think how they would have been eulogised if they had.

I do wish people would put their open hatred of Madeleine McCann’s parents way behind them and concentrate on the here and now which is the active investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

S&S’s book may have no influence on that, on the other hand it may serve to give a wider understanding of the issues and even prick a conscience or two.

Then for some reason there is demonstrably a section of our very sick society who don't want the answers to Madeleine's disappearance ... they think they know the answer already - but for sure they have no idea ... so a book giving her story a positive  angle is to be abhorred.  Very sad.

They may not give a tinker's curse about the sensibilities of the McCanns but you can bet your bottom dollar that they do care about the firepower of their lawyers. Do you think they won't have considered what happened to Amaral at the hands of the McCanns before putting pen to paper ?

this is the description of the book.........spot the mistakes.

The 2007 disappearance of a three-year-old Madeleine McCann from her bed in Portugal proved an instant, worldwide sensation. There's been nothing like it since America's Lindbergh kidnapping eighty years ago.

Award-winning authors Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan have produced the first independent, objective account of the case. They have examined the released Portuguese files, conducted in-depth interviews and original research to answer the questions: What can we really know about this most emotive of cases? What can we learn from it?

The Portuguese police probe ran into a dead end. Parents Gerry and Kate McCann, however, have never given up the search for Madeleine. They blitzed the media, hired private detectives, kept the case in the public eye. Speculation that the McCanns played a role in their daughter's fate, the authors demonstrate, is unfounded.

Scotland Yard's 'investigative review', ordered by the Prime Minister and begun in 2011, identified some 200 potential leads. The Yard's suspects have included a mystery paedophile who preyed on other British children. The Detective Chief Inspector heading the probe has said the little girl may still be alive.

The McCann family's private tragedy has touched millions around the world and aroused sometimes dark controversy. Looking for Madeleine is the most definitive account possible.

==================

The fact is there is not one single shred of evidence to clear the McCanns of any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance, the police files tell us enough without the weird behaviour and body language of the McCanns since 4 th May 2007 when we first saw them trying to push a fantasy abduction story.

Scotland Yard: Redwood can assert that the McCanns are not suspects but he cannot assert that there is now "clear evidence that eliminates them" without providing it. There is not a hint or trace of such evidence having been unearthed in the three years of Operation Grange's existence.

Always listen to both sides of the story before you judge.

The first storyteller you will always find has modified the story, for there benefit BE WISE.

What I find sick and actually quite disturbing is people who think Madeleine will make a miraculous return from nowhere, after 7 and a half years. without a single lead.

The book itself appears to be a demonstrable waste of time and money.

Totally agreed Faithlilly.

I've only read a small part of this book and it dawns on me that the publishers name says everything about the book itself.

A true 'hatchete job'.

no one has to demonstrate or is able to...anyone who talks about demonstrating innocence is plainly barmy....Barry George...despite all the hours in court still has not demonstrated his innocence... Colin Stagg could not demonstrate his innocence...as I said ..plain barmy
