Investigation into McCann internet trolls launched by police

She came over to me as a very bitter woman when I read she is a divorcee tweeting unfounded speculations about the state of someone elses' marriage. 

The point is, although she must be absolutely mortified at being on the receiving end of a very bad press for a short time and as events progress she will be forgotten – people have been doing this to the people she targeted for over seven years – perhaps it will give her pause for reflection on that.

She did look angry, bedraggled and bitter, but I felt a bit sorry for her, after all she is no youngster. 
 Silly silly lady, to have got herself into that situation. I had assumed it was mainly bored, youngsters who got involved with this sort of harassment on line. I was so wrong!

Among the worst excesses of the internet trolls targeting the McCann family are the dangers they represent to the children. 

As the saying goes, they know where they live, as people think nothing of posting vile leaflets through their neighbours’ letterboxes.

The trolls who take delight in targeting Madeleine’s siblings are the ones I would most like to see taken to court and prosecuted for their stalking behaviour. 

Behaviour which has included holding discussions about kidnapping one of the twins;
discussing the activities the children take part in;
discussing their route to school;
sharing maps and timing distances of the route;
visiting the school web site for dates and times of semesters;
discussing school bus timetables;
publishing photographs on the internet of the children at a private family outing.

Now imagine a motley group of adults was doing that to your children or your grandchildren.

Imagine your children knew nothing about all of the above and learned about the threats etc from friends in school because a supporter of your parents had revealed them to the media for her fifteen minutes of fame, because in all probability that is exactly what awaited the twins this morning.

Make no mistake, if the McCann twins are at home tonight asking their parents if they are safe the blame can be solely laid at the feet of the supporters who obviously thought nothing of destroying the piece of mind of two already traumatised children.

This dossier could and should have been dealt with in private by the Met. The fact that it wasn't has shown clearly that for supporters even the welfare of the twins comes second to carrying out Kate and Gerry's 'parents as victims' agenda.
