The whooshing curtains, net curtains or both?

It does not take a rocket scientist to understand this.
4 m/s is far from enough to make curtains of full length like those to whoosh and we can see clearly that they are trapped behind the chair and the bed.

4 is the average...quite reasonable for there to have been a gust that whooshed the curtains...what a small point to try and make something out of

You have evidence of that ?

P.S.    4 m/s is 14.4 Km/hr,  or if you prefer 9 miles/hr.

The wind direction that evening was from WNW.
How could the curtains "whoosh" when the wind came from the opposite direction?

Maybe them curtains blew open then aswell, before returning to their closed position, in preperation for the next dramatic gust.

Absolutly, this whole window/door story is important for this event.
How could the door "slam" in that direction of the wind, and as hard as Kate explains?

We can see clearly on the pictures that have not been any damage to the shutters.
Shouldn´t one of,or both of the twins have woken up if the door was shut as hard as Kate says?

Get your facts right, please Matt:

1)  Madeleines bedroom window faces North NOT South.  What a massive error to make!   Check it on Google Earth.

2)  Full length curtains but not normally trapped.  After searching and peeps lifting and looking under beds, maybe the shoved about bed was left up against the curtains, but not normally. 
Normally there is a small gap behind the bed as shown here.  That is so the curtains can be opened and closed without hindrance.

I do not recall seeing that photo before. However I can see it is definitely genuine. The exact shutter configuration (only one slat gap open) proves that.

I probably overcooked it when enlarging the original in an attempt to emphasise the net curtains.  The original came from an article in the Correio da Manhā.  I have edited the pic slightly.

That CdM photo is interesting. I don't think it is in the files. It proves there were net curtains. Also it gives a better view of what is on that bed near the window. Is that something pink on there?

I wonder does it reflect the scene as found rather than the tidy pics we are used to seeing plastered all over msm with nice tidy beds all made up neatly?  The CSI lady's fingerprint dust is clearly visible on the blinds.

The cot is the brown one, but has been moved and turned 90 degrees from its original position.
