We don't know which way the plot will go, we currently have the wealthy benefactor involved with the paedophile. Whatever happens next doesn't help the McCann case but merely puts thoughts in people's minds.

It's a shame that you can't post a serious point on this forum without some posters trying to score points.
You SERIOUSLY believe this programme is dangerous?  And I'm supposed to take that seriously am I?  What danger do you actually perceive then?

I don't see it as a dangerous TV drama, but I do see Slarti's point that there is a potential danger of the "susceptible" deciding that it is a 'cleverly disguised' factual account of the McCann case (i.e., to the exclusion of any other), mainly because some people seem to have trouble distinguishing fact from fiction.

I don't see anyone with long-held convictions changing their minds on the basis of a TV drama.

It just might make some more moderate people reflect on the amount of abuse that the McCann family have received over the years, and possibly examine their own role in adding to it. But I won't hold my breath.

So what?  That's their problem.

Agreed.Highly unlikely.

What bothers me, is that something that has started innocently, and having drawn millions of viewers in, will suddenly change its colours and be crafted to be downright propaganda against The Mccanns.

We have seen it before

That's how the Propaganda Machine works

Have you watched it, Sadie?

I find it very well done, and loosely inspired by several cases (so far, as we're only up to Episode 2).

No, i haven't Carana

Hearing problems make TV rather unattractive to me.  Cant follow American films at all

And have rarely really enjoyed make believe TV even when my hearing was better.

My sister in Law keeps telling me what is happening in East Enders and Coronation Street ... YAWN ... and she is driving me mad  8(8-)) 8)><(.  Cant take trivia and rubbish.  Same with books, they have to be well written .. and have a good and interesting plot.

If I get the time, I will try and have a peep

Any idea who wrote it?

I remember reading somewhere that this was a Belgium made programme. The making was financed by the Belgium arts council.

It's a BBC TV drama in several episodes, Sadie.

It's on iPlayer, if you have access to that. It's "The Missing".

There was an American film of the same name, but that is not the BBC TV drama that we are discussing.

This is the one:

I wonder will the former policeman who led the investigation write a book about the disappearance and get sued for libel in the end?   @)(++(*

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Unlikely, as he appears to be on the side of the father and is helping him to find his abducted child.  One of the cops in the original investigation is in jail though for reasons which are as yet unclear...
