How many instances are there of missing persons turning up alive after cadaver dog alerts?

For example, Shannon Mathews, there was a dog alert in that case, yet she turned up alive!

I can give an instance where a cadaver dog repeatedly alerted to places that were said to have had bodies and body parts placed but which turned out to be completely false.   Google Zampo the cadaver dog.

Zampo alerted to a total of 45 places in the woods, all false alerts.  Of course, ths doesn't address the thread question and is in no way relevant to the accuracy or otherwise of cadaver dogs.

Wouldn't that question require an FOI to every police force / private dog handling business in each country that uses such dogs? Or is the assumption that if a missing person is found alive that the media in whichever country will automatically mention whether cadaver dogs were deployed or not and stipulate where?

In the Mccann case

1)  Many, if not all, of the alerts could have been alerts for something el;se other than Cadavar odour, because Eddie alerts to blood from a living person too .... Keela was needed too .....and how often was Keela used to point out that the alert was actually to Cadavar odour?

2)  Additionally, Eddie will alert to any bodily fluids, I understand, and even teeth and nail clippings, urine etc.
Please correct me if I am wrong.


No forensics were able to show that the alerts were due to cadavar odour.  You are all still believing myths and that is incredible after all the time spent on this forum explaining it to you.  It is also totally unfair to The Mccanns.

Try and get your teeth into the FACTS rather than just keep on trolling out the same old, same old, rubbish and myths.

A judge ordered Matthew Hurayt released from the Cuyahoga County Jail Monday, overriding the protests of prosecutors who maintain he may have been involved in the disappearance of Gina DeJesus.

Assistant County Prosecutor Jennifer Driscoll said a police dog trained to alert officers to the scent of cadavers “indicated” in three locations at Hurayt's West 50th Street home on Friday that a dead body may have been present at one time.

Two of the locations where the dog sat, the indicator used to alert police, were in Hurayt's garage, where an informant told investigators Hurayt had buried the girl's body beneath a freshly poured concrete floor. Investigators tore up the floor in the garage and under a doghouse.

The dog also alerted to a location in the house, Driscoll said.

Police arrested Hurayt, 35, a registered sexual predator, on Thursday based on the informant's tip. But investigators who dug up the garage floor and searched the house didn't find a body or any physical evidence of the girl, who has been missing since April 2004. Nineteen items removed from the house will be investigated further, Driscoll said.
