There were going to be a range of possible outcomes from all proven to all not proven, we have 4 proven with large caveats. In any sense of the word, this is not the victory the McCanns wanted.

Not on the level that compensation should be paid, that's the difference you fail to appreciate.  If the judge had found Amaral culpable then she would just have said so without any clarification.

For the damages You can't just demand 1m, you have to provide evidence. From what we know they presented mainly personal testimony.
