Which bit isn't the same?  Is it the bit where the children were all in bed?

Remind me, wasn't that exactly what the McCanns did ie left their children asleep and alone in an unlocked apartment?

The drink driving issue is irrelevant to this discussion by the way since it has no bearing on the neglect charge.

According to her, she put the children to bed.

How many times did she check on them while cruising around over the drink limit with her third child in the car?

The difference between the two as far as I can see,  is that this mother was further away from her children than the McCann's were.   The McCann's were just minutes away from the apartment.

I would say that was one difference.

Another difference is that she was driving over the alcohol limit with a third child in the car.

And while she was doing that, how many checks did she make on the two children left at home?

My guess is not many.

In fact, probably none ...

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

it seems Stephen has highlighted that it is very unusual to be  charged with neglect...this is quite an extreme case and bears no resemblance to the McCann case

We have been through all this before.

Just type neglect cases on Google.

You will find many cases, as you are more than well aware.

This thread is not about child neglect in all its differing forms, so that would be a fairly pointless exercise.

this is the result of the only charge on first page of google for the search you suggested....

When the case finally did reach Carlisle Crown Court last year, it was swiftly thrown out after a defence barrister double-checked a list of text messages taken as evidence by police and found that, among dozens, just one text message on the friend's phone had been deleted. It was the text they'd initially sent to ask their friend if he could help them out.

I've kept reading...you have highlighted how unusual a conviction for neglect/abandonment  actually is

Even a simple search of the internet, will reveal more information about neglect of children by their parents.

Some get away with it, as we have seen in Portugal. Some get cautioned. Some are charged.

So it's about time you get real dave, more than time, and that applies to anyone who excuses the mccanns behaviour.

and for good measure here's one example.

MORE TO COME.
